Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Moving out, landlord informed: Should we also inform the letting agent?

    Quick question.

    No period of notice specified in the contract, but we gave the landlord a month's notice anyway when he came for the last rent payment. Should we also inform the letting agent? I assume so since he has our deposit.

    I've probably answered my own question.

    Are they actually managing the apt/house, if you have landlords details etc it's unlikey the letting agent did anything other than let the apt.

    We gave our deposit to the letting agent, so I can only assume it would make sense to get in touch with him.

    You should let the Agents know, but normally the agent will take the deposit and take their fees out it and pass the remainder onto the landlord, so the landlord will/more than likely will have your deposit. Most agencies don't hold onto the deposits given!

    Unless the Letting Agent is managing the apt, which is unlikely, you don't need to give them notice, if they are managing it, you should be sending the notice to them only and not the landlord.

    The letting Agent usually does just that, let the apt/house, not manage it. If you have contact details for the landlord, then it usually means it's not being managed by a third party. It will say it on the lease/introductory letter.
