2fm should hire Chris Greene, Mary Mcgill, Brian & Dara , Anton savage, Mairead Farrell .

i say 2fm would love a few bodies off today fm especially ray darcy and his gang, plus anton savage and matt cooper, but i say rte being old crustys they would tone down the lot of them and make them play cheesey music

I'm not particularly fond of the format of getting two aspiring standup comedians to do morning shows together, but for what it was, those two were the best of a bad bunch when they were on.
Damned by faint praise? Maybe, but faint praise is all RTE2 can hope to have from me for the foreseeable future.

Personally I don't understand this obsession with multi presenters on breakfast shows and would prefer to see 2fm go solo with traffic, sport and here's an idea MUSIC ! I just don't get the formulaic painful Dempsey , Rosenstock , Collins horror show or the woefully bad Lee & Miller on Nova. Old advice in the radio business is still valid :- if you've got nothing to say, say nothing . Breakfast shows take note .

Personally, I don't get the obsession that Irish radio has with 'traffic & travel'. This is a small country, just 4+ million of us. Heavy traffic on the M50 isn't newsworthy; neither is traffic moving slowly from Con Colbert to Heuston station. It's the same boring old stuff everyday.

Well said, traffic my arse its just an ad for the AA.

Nobody gives a fcuk about the traffic reports.

Not only that, but by its very nature, it's completely out of date news before the AA dolly bird even reads it!

Unless they are reporting on a major unusual incident, such as the various accidents and road blockages caused by the stormy weather yesterday, it's pointless. We don't need to hear it's "heavy on the red cow roundabout..."

Bernard and Keith (former iRadio iWakeUp hosts) and Jennifer McGuire from what I've been told.

Keith Walsh has quite a bit of experience co-hosting breakfast shows: first with Joe Donnelly on Spin103, then with Bernard O'Shea on iRadio and now with his old buddy Joe on Phantom. Jennifer Maguire is involved with a few different television programs with Bernard.

Of course, this is speculation at the moment, but, if Keith does join 2FM, he will be yet another former presenter from Phantom's pirate days on 2FM - the others: Cormac Battle, Dan Hegarty and previously Jenny Houston... and I think briefly John Walshe. Keith (and John if he was there) will have been with licensed Phantom too, unlike the first three mentioned. The other interesting thing about Keith is that he is currently PD of Phantom and this begs the question would he bring others with him, such as his mate Joe Donnelly. Joe has also experience as a producer on Newstalk.

This could all be for nothing of course!

I hope Cormac Battle is amongst those culled in the latest round of terminations, I can't stand the man on the radio.

    Have to disagree

He's the best of them on 2fm.

At least he plays decent music, I know it's a specialist show but at least we get to hear some MUSIC!

It confuses me that so many people listen to 2fm even though they don't like it or consistently complain about it.

Emm, maybe because we PAY for it !

Heard the Golden Hour today for the first time in ages. More like the brass hour - first two songs were Steps and Westlife. Think Larry will be for the chop, although I imagine he doesn't have that much of an input into the playlist under the new regime.

l tuned in one day...he played the thong song.....never again...why would he even play that?

I wonder what changes a new schedule would bring to 2FM in the evening, does anybody know if Dave Fanning's show is presented live? Any time I listened to Off the Ball over the last few months it seemed to finish in a hurry and have the news at like 7.55pm. I believe Dan Hegartys show is a re-run of what goes out on the digital station in the morning. Personally I just think it doesnt sound great on a national station to be playing pre-recorded shows that have already aired on a digital station. I would like to see Jenny Greene get a slot on weekday evenings.

I don't think any license fee money directly goes to the station though.

Still though, that argument isn't exactly logical, if you listen and like it you are happy. If you listen and don't like it then why are you listening to it? If you don't listen to it and complain then you don't exactly have a basis for it.

Its run a deficit for some years - any funding from elsewhere in RTE going to subvent it effectively comes from the licence fee as it'll need replacement.

All Fannings evening shows are voice tracked, so 2fm have no live programs weekdays from 8pm-6am

"Eoghan McDermott will be on the couch to talk about life in London with his fellow hip Irish pals and in very exciting news, he'll talk about his new radio show on 2fm."

Wow, can't wait to hear about his "hip" pals.

Weren't Laura Whitmore and bressie on something a couple of months ago yapping about the same thing?

London seems to be the new big smoke.

Yeah there's a gang of Irish that tend to kind of hang out together- but sure that's pretty natural, wouldn't bother me. Describing them as "hip" is a bit nauseating though.

It'll be more of the same anyway even if there is a new schedule, never really seems to change drastically.

Am I missing something here? It's a personal opinion but Dan Healy brought in from iRadio to sort out 2 fm and all we're being drip fed is notion of 2fm becoming a quasi Spin or Phantom with Happy type breakfast presenters . Will we ever learn ? What's wrong with solo presenters and as for Mc Dermott , hope his radio skills are better than the love in drivel on TV on New Year's Eve - it was shockingly bad . And as for more iradio types coming in , weren't they originally 2 stations which became one because they got it so wrong. As for their output today - it's zombie radio . It's a personal opinion folks but 2fm in my view will never have credibility with the audience they seem to be chasing

A quasi spin with Tubridy, Colm Hayes, Dave Fanning, Larry Gogan and a sports program ? I don't think so.

Deserves a pay-rise in my humble opinion:

Tubridy apologises for 'Filipino slave' joke

THE country's highest paid broadcaster Ryan Tubridy has apologised after a remark about a Filipino slave warming his seat on his morning radio show.
