Another dire summer's day. Cold, wet and breezy. The high temperature was just 13.0C. It's now 11.6C. I'm thinking of putting on the heat. It's still raining. There was 5mm recorded today. To add to it all it's also breezy.

I can't believe I spent today chasing garden furniture around the place! I only put the stuff out a few weeks ago.:eek: It was windy this morning.

Grange's June 2017 summary

Very warm but wet. Close to average sunshine.

Rainfall: Wettest June since 2012.
I recorded a rainfall total of 87.2mm which comes to 143% of my average June rainfall. This made it my wettest June since 2012 although nothing particularly remarkable overall in comparison with other wet Junes. Much of June was rather wet as I recorded only 10 completely dry days (days with 0mm or more) and this meant I recorded 20 wet days (days with 0.1mm or more). I recorded a two week long dry spell from the 11th-25th (14 days) nevertheless where I had only 1.4mm of rainfall during this period. My wettest day was the 8th when I recorded 16.2mm of rainfall which also made it my wettest June day since 2012. Keep in mind that much of June's total was recorded during short periods such as 8th-10th with 30.7mm or 26th-30th with 33.9mm. These periods brought 64.6mm of June's 87.2mm rainfall.

Temperature: Second warmest June on record.
I recorded a mean temperature of 14.6c which was +1.9c above the LTA. This made it my warmest June since 2016 and my second warmest on record. If it were not for the last few days of the month being cool, it would have beaten 2016 in being the warmest on record. Nevertheless, despite this, June was very interesting temperature wise. I almost recorded an actual heatwave (5 consecutive days with 25c or more) from the 17th-21st but unfortunately, temperatures on the 20th dropped below 20c. The 21st was my warmest June day on record when I recorded a new June maximum temperature record with a maximum of 28.4c. This made it my warmest day since July 2016. It was also my second warmest June on record in terms of minimum temperatures again only beaten by 2016 with 10.2c and 10.6c respectively. I had my warmest June night on the 22nd since 2016 as well with a minimum of 13.2c. There was 11 days with 20c or more during June which is well above the average of just 2-3. Other very warm days during June included 26.2c on the 17th, 25.9c on the 18th and 26.4c on the 19th. In contrast, 10 days later, the 29th with a maximum of only 12.9c was my coolest June day since 2012.

Sunshine: Close to average overall.
I recorded a sunshine total of 172 hours which was 97% of my average June sunshine. Despite being duller than average, it was still my sunniest June since 2015 as 2016 was duller with only 160 hours. I recorded 59 hours of these during the 17th-20th, a period when I had at least 10 hours or more i.e. 4 consecutive very sunny days. I recorded my sunniest day on the 17th with 16.0 hours which was my sunniest June day since 2010. I had one completely dull day during June which is around average. There isn't much to really summarise here for June 2017 in terms of sunshine other than that.

Overall, a pretty interesting month in terms of the overall statistics but in comparison with other Junes, it was quite forgettable besides the temperatures.
