Hope this is in the right forum..

My aunt (single, no dependents) is currently moving from hospital to a nursing home. She has early stage Alzheimers. We don't have power of attorney and as her main carer, I'm in the process of completing the Fair deal and Care rep forms. Her car has been sitting in her driveway for the past year and is likely to stay there for another few years until ward of court papers have been finalised.

My question is, should we try to sell her car now while it still has some value, and include it in the assets section of her Fair Deal application, rather than leave it sitting there to depreciate for the next few years? Seems like a total waste of a decent car if we do that. I'm just not sure how to even go about that if she's in a nursing home.
