Those are two lovely mercs. Wonder if they'd make a good daily driver... hmmm.
No mention of NCT on one.

Really like the alloys on the 230. Are they from MB? They look familiar.

The W124 makes a great daily driver and the 230 would be the better of the two.

The chrome arches on the 220 are hiding something I'd bet!

I keep going back to look at that white '230. Its bloody gorgeous (and I'm not a huge Merc fan)

Everything is just so right about it

    There's a 1994 E 220 in Merlin that didn't sell on Saturday if anybody's looking for hardship.

Bidding didn't make it past €100

Its only out of NCT a month! And taxed to the end of the month.

A very good price with show season coming up (if its not rotten). Obviously not to everybody's taste but they are (imo) a good mix of comfort and drivability. I'm sure €2k would bring it home

It’s like a tropical cyclone in the back window there is so much condensation. That amount of moisture in a car would really worry me.

Great cars these and so undervalued. This one would be a lot less rusty than the equivalent UK import. Spares are cheap too

Went to all that trouble and expensive to make it look that crap. I like those cars but that looks so stupid.
No reason whatsoever why it could not have looked like this.

Australia a great place to buy a merc, they tend to be rust free and have lots of extras like air con so on. And of course RHD !

That silver one is lovely. I used to own 10 of the same make( model) years ago. Can be a strange obsession.

A long road to getting a fresh NCT on that!

Doesn't even mention if it runs or if there's chickens living in the engine bay.

    Smashing cruisers though.

Very nice! If it's as clean as it looks it's very realistically priced too.

Anyone else see pic 7 before reading the description and think "surely not...." :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,414 ✭✭✭tc20

I saw that GS on DD last night - it's a beaut for sure, very rare sight these days. personally I love the interior..
in other news, I saw this also and thought of Duke :)
I wouldn't class it as a 'classic', and the NCT was up in Jan 17..
Advertised at €1k, or €1.5 with a fresh Cert

Pic 7 is interesting. Looking at the 'good' car, it seems the wipers are going the wrong way. I wonder was it originally a LHD car. Pic 7 seems to confirm that on a rhd car they should be going the correct way.

Edit- having googled a bit, I could be wrong.

The second car is a spare that~s included in the price. It says so in the ad. The seller also mentions that the logbook is included.

Rotten car has a vinyl roof and sunroof. These could be left out of a resto of course, but they are different cars. The rotten car is beyond saving, unless it was worth the other side of €30,000. Which it isn't.

We had one of them in our house, that 1.4e engine was a little cracker. Loved to Rev

We had one as well 1.4e manual. A cracker to drive. I had the previous model 19 Supervan too. Great goer as well.

    All GS sweep that way.

What I will say though it is a "half-arsed" RHD conversion, as the handbrake release isn't mirrored, so you have to either hold it palm up to use the index finger to release, or have adequate pinky strength if going at it palm down.

Also the ventilation seemed to be better at clearing the left hand side of the windscreen first.

(compare: Have a look at all the old RHD ADO16s, they all sweep that way. All LHD sweep the other way.)
