Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    It looks at the moment that Brexit will affect imports from the UK as follows after January 1st:

    Goods under €22 are currently not liable to VAT. This will change after July 1st when the lower limit of €22 is abolished.
    Goods over €150 may be liable to Duty and therefore Customs clearance charges as well. Customs clearance and VAT/Duty are explained in the sticky thread in the Online buying forum. Please read this before asking questions.

    Amazon declare and collect Irish VAT. Therefore there should be no change up to €150 value. Amazon may offer a service similar to the US Amazon where they take a deposit to cover clearance and VAT/Duty.
    They have not said anything about how Prime will work.

    Any other company shipping into Ireland from the UK after January 1st, if they don't do the VAT collection should mean that it will have to be customs cleared for values over €22, and may be subject to duty over €150.00. This would probably apply to eBay.

    If there is no agreement, shipping in from the UK will mean that imports are generally treated the same as imports from the USA and China.(Apart from the Amazon example above)

    Parcel Connect - UK Virtual Address Announcement
    Dear Virtual Address Member,

    Today we would like to bring you an important service update regarding the Parcel Connect UK Virtual Address service.

    Effective Friday 18th December 2020, and until further notice, Fastway Couriers will temporarily suspend the UK Virtual Address service from Parcel Connect. This is due to custom clearance requirements for parcels being imported into the Republic of Ireland from Great Britain, post-Brexit.

    While this service will be temporarily suspended effective Friday 18th December 2020, we recommend you stop using the service with immediate effect, due to current delivery demands in the run-up to Christmas. Please note all other services remain unaffected.

    To ensure you are prepared for this temporary suspension, please review the following:
    Any parcels arriving at the UK Virtual Address will be processed as normal up to Friday 18th December 2020.
    During the temporary suspension period please ensure to update any address books, where you have indicated Parcel Connect UK Virtual Address as your default delivery address.
    If ordering online between now and Friday 18th December 2020, and using the Parcel Connect UK Virtual Address as your default delivery address, please double check all transit times to ensure your parcel arrives before the temporary suspension of the service.
    Parcels arriving at the UK Virtual Address after Friday 18th December 2020, we cannot guarantee they will be processed.

    We apologies for any inconvenience this temporary suspension may cause, and we look forward to reactivating the Parcel Connect UK Virtual Address service in the New Year.

    AddressPal changes January 1st 2021
    January 2021 Update
    Deliveries:
    From January 1st 2021 deliveries from the UK are changing due to customs.
    When shopping online use your Home Delivery AddressPal virtual address (see below for address examples).
    From this date, your Post Office/Collection Point AddressPal virtual address can no longer be used when importing items.
    However, once the parcel has been processed we will let you know by email or text and you will then have the option to redirect your parcel to any of the following:
    A Post Office/Collection Point
    A Parcel Locker
    A neighbour
    A safe place
    Or select an alternative date for delivery

    This will apply for UK and USA AddressPal items.
    Payment details:
    From January 1st 2021 payment for all AddressPal items must be taken from a Credit/Debit card that is saved on your AddressPal account. Without a valid card your parcel cannot be delivered. You will only be charged once we process your AddressPal deliveries.
    Note: All UK items will be subject to Revenue customs rules from January 1st 2021.
    If there are customs fees related to your item, you will be contacted with more information.

    Here is everything you need to know about the Brexit impact on your shipments.

    Customs charges

    At the end of the year, the UK will leave the single market and customs union. While much remains undecided about the future trading relationship, it is clear that when the transition period ends, the cost, effort and time of moving goods between the EU and the UK will likely increase. All parcels crossing the new border between Britain and Ireland must clear customs and will be subject to customs duty and VAT, which are not included in the initial purchase price of your goods.

    Virtual address in the UK temporarily suspended

    Following the Brexit impact, we would like to share with you that as of December 28th, our virtual address services in the UK will be temporarily suspended. This means that from this date, we will no longer accept deliveries at the UK virtual address: 1a McKinney Road, Newtownabbey, UK. We are working diligently to update our product offering in order to adapt to the latest trade requirements as they come to conclusion and better serve your shopping needs. You will receive further updates in the coming weeks.

    UK returns accepted until December 30th

    Return shipments to the UK will only be accepted until December 30th. Please ensure that you send your return prior to this date in order to avoid additional charges.

    Enjoy a reduced rate on the Irish virtual address

    You can continue to use the Irish virtual address (below) to collect your packages at the Parcel Motel locker near you and avail of contactless, convenient, and sustainable deliveries. To thank you for helping reduce the environmental impact by using our lockers, we are happy to offer you a promotional rate of € 3.25 (instead of € 4.50) from January 1st 2021

    Virtual address in the UK under construction starting tomorrow
    Hi

    Following our important notification about Brexit impact shared with you on December 18th, we would like to remind with you that as of tomorrow, our virtual address services in the UK will be temporarily suspended. Starting 28th December, we will no longer accept deliveries at the UK virtual address: 1a McKinney Road, Newtownabbey, UK.

    Don’t forget that return shipments to the UK will only be accepted until December 30th. To avoid additional charges, ensure that you send your returns ahead of this date.
    If you’ve missed the cut off date, be sure to check the retailer’s website or coordinate with the retailer directly for their recommended returns method or visit UPS.com to send a parcel.

    In addition, remember to update your address on all of the websites where currently the UK virtual address is saved as your default delivery address.

    The good news is, you can continue to use the Irish virtual address (below) to collect your packages at the Parcel Motel locker near you and continue to take advantage of our contactless, convenient, and sustainable deliveries.     Your Parcel Motel Service Update



    As you’d remember, back in December we shared information with you about how Brexit would impact your shipments and announced our UK virtual address temporary suspension and our new Irish virtual address, we now have some further updates to share with you. Here is everything you need to know about your Parcel Motel shipments:

    Is the UK virtual address still suspended?
    On December 28th, our virtual address service in the UK was suspended. Since then we have no longer accepted deliveries at the UK virtual address: 1a McKinney Road, Newtownabbey, UK. Our UK virtual address remains suspended but we are working hard to update our product offering in order to adapt to the latest trade requirements and better serve your shopping needs. We will be back in touch with further updates shortly.

    What about the Irish virtual address?

    Don’t worry we’re open for business! You can still continue to enjoy our Irish virtual address… and at a reduced rate!

    The good news is that you can continue to use our Irish virtual address service with the new Irish address (below) to collect your packages conveniently at the Parcel Motel locker nearest you. Even better news… to celebrate your choice to reduce your environmental impact by using our lockers, we will continue to offer you a promotional collection rate of € 3.25 (instead of € 3.95).

    Be sure to update your records with the new address below. Please do not use “Parcel Motel Unit C1 North City Business Park, North Road, Dublin 11, D11RW30, Ireland ” address anymore

    My parcel from the UK never arrived, what should I do?
    We are no longer accepting deliveries at our depot in Newtownabbey, UK. If a carrier arrives with a delivery it will be refused by our staff and returned to the carrier’s depot. We encourage anyone with refused packages to contact their retailer and request additional information and a refund.

    I have a question about my package that I need answered, who should I direct it to?
    If you have any questions related to a package in the Parcel Motel network, please contact our Support Team who will be happy to help.

    Anything I’m forgetting?
    Don’t forget to to update your address on all of the websites where currently the UK virtual address is saved as your default delivery address. Also, be sure to update the Irish virtual address on all of your favourite websites with the new address listed above.
