Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Mature students starting in Maynooth this year?

    Hi! I know with the current situation we’re not sure what’s going on with colleges yet. Is there anyone else here starting/ already a mature student in Maynooth this year?

    Maynooth are doing blended learning this year. So if you have labs u will be in, otherwise its online.

    Completely false information above, MU like TCD and UCD are planning for blended learning - some labs and some lectures will be on campus. The ratio of 'some' has yet to be confirmed.

    Hardly false information. I saw the email. They have lost a lot of students because of it and no information on it since has been communicated. If they do go ahead with in class learning it will be because the student numbers will have dropped by a vast amount.

    What is the source for Maynooth losing 'a lot' of students? Do you have access to the deferral data for current students? Student uptake for first year in all third level is not available yet. If there is a significant rate of 1st years deferring the entry level will drop and there will still be students to take those places.

    The email of 30 June stated the plan for lectures is:

    Large lectures (100+): Remote teaching supplemented by classes with subsets of the group on a rota basis.
    Small classes: A combination of live, on campus teaching and live teaching done remotely.
    Medium classes: One of the two options above, depending on the nature of the topic and the teaching style.
