    Anyone else do this.
I'd imagine you could have really interesting insights if you talked to yourself more.
And just making sense of the insanity around you.

I'm wondering if I should start.

As long as you don't answer yourself back.

    When you're talkin' to yourself
    And nobody's home
    You can fool yourself
You came in this world alone

Depends what you are talking about really.

If your shouting at yourself to punch yourself in the d*ck, that's cool.
Lamenting on the one that got away, not so much.

I passed a fella yesterday on a road partially covered in trees and he had them big earphones on, frantically dancing to very loud Disco music, Bee Gees type stuff, looked like Saturday night fever type dancing, obviously didn't see me.

    decent dancer too

Pretty good way to get people to leave you the fcuk alone. Very few people will try to sign you up to something or sit beside you on the bus if you're muttering away to yourself.

You want to avoid the nutter, you have to BE the nutter.

My father does this at home and in public and it's so annoying.
If he's making a cup of tea.
He'll go I'll fill the kettle.
    I'll turn on the tap.
    I'll put the kettle down.
    I'll turn on the kettle.
    I'll get the tea bags.
I'll put them into the pot.
    Etc.
Every task he does he talks himself through it out loud.

    I'd ignore the talkers

Yes. It's one of many reasons why I seem more normal when I'm with my kid.

Only in vitally important scenarios like the supermarket. I'll be muttering 'Don't forget the milk, don't forget the milk'. Then I'll walk out without getting the milk have a few more words with myself and go back in. For the milk.

The only insights gleaned from this are that I can forget things even as I'm out looking for them, and that a constant supply of milk is the most important constituent of any well-run household.

I see Nigerians doing it all the time

Or so I think; you hear them coming a mile off but on closer inspection they’re on the phone with an earpiece.

Maybe he's trying out for an audio description job on the TV?

Sometimes I do. More a case of thinking out loud. Or when I'm writing something and putting a bit of effort into it I more or less have to talk through what I'm writing as I am writing it, just to get a sense of how it sounds.

What are his views on brexit?

He says it's a realisation of his Continental System.
