What has your name got to do with Kafka?

Gregor Samsa is the character in Kafka's The Metamorphosis that wakes up and finds that he's turned into an insect. The story is written in the 3rd person. I quoted the first paragraph, replacing his name, and any reference to "he" or "his" with "I" and "my".

My friends parrot was called Joey - :pac::pac::pac::pac:

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Good thread. :)

"Uncle Pierre" is a second nickname that a guy called The Crook in a soccer club I used to be in about 20 years ago assigned to another guy in the club, who was normally known as The Babby.

And by the way, that's Crook as in an old-fashioned farm implement for catching sheep. Not crook as in criminal. :)

No interesting story really. Was doing a tax return which for us was stupidly complex. And since I was signing up to post on After Hours I turned the word "Tax Accrual" into this.
