Welcome to the Official Picks Thread for the 2019 PW Boards Draft!

    2qiqfe.jpg

There will be 15 rounds of drafting. Those signed up will be randomly assigned a position from 1 - 15 tomorrow for round 1.

While the rules are all listed below, I'd like to remind people that most rounds will be random, though some will see picks organized based on particular factors.

A quick synopsis of the rules again for easy access for the players:
    The Rules:

    Draft Order
The order people make their picks is decided at random, via a completely unbiased List Randomizer website (random.org). There will be a number of rounds in which the drawing order will not be random. These will be made clear at the start of these rounds.

    World Titles:

World titles are considered as the following:
WWE, World Heavyweight Title/WCW, TNA, NWA and IWGP world championship

(Note: For the benefit of the game as a whole and to reflect the realistic loss in prestige of the NWA Title, only holders of the NWA Title up until the WCW World Championship came into use will be regarded as World Champions for the purposes of the game. )

Since last year, any version of the WWE Women's Championship was also included as a part of this rule. This will continue for 2019.

    Eligible Promotions:

Any - it has all changed this year. If you want to draft Bandylegs McGillicuddy from Ireland - as long as you can categorically prove he has had a pro wrestling match - he is yours!
The only exception to this rule is in relation to tag teams - please see below.

    Tag Teams:

Tag Teams come as a package so for example if you want the Authors of Pain then you don't have to pick Rezar one round and then Akam the next. The rules for tag teams are as follows:

    - Cannot have a world champion in them ie no Dudleys, DX or Hart Foundation
    - Must have tagged together for at least 3 months in WWE, TNA, ROH, NJPW or anything historically going under the NWA banner.
    - Intergender tag teams not allowed
    - Members of factions, ie Wade Barrett and Rusev, are not deemed valid picks as they are not classed as legit tag teams under the criteria for the game.
    - 4 tag teams is the maximum amount of teams for each roster - this has been reduced from the 5 of previous years down by 1.

    Time Frame:

None. The old pre 1970’s rule remains abolished.
There will also be a celeb round where celebs who have appeared on wrestling TV are eligible for picks.

    - people who would be considered Celebs more so than wrestlers are only eligible to be drafted in the special celeb round and not in any other round

    - Managers, commentators and female wrestlers are eligible if people wish to pick them. Once they are drafted - they’re yours!

    Trades:

Trades are allowed from Round 5 onwards but you are limited to 5 trades each. When a trade occurs it is superstars you are trading, not a pick in the draft, so you must be able to make the draft pick before they are eligible to be drafted, i.e all normal rules such as 4 tag team picks limit are still in effect.

Trades may be vetoed by those running the game in order to ensure a fair balance is maintained. However, this is extremely unlikely to occur for the vast majority of trades, and will only be discussed in situations where there is suspicion of other matters influencing the game.

    Stip rounds:

There are a number of stipulation rounds lined up. Make sure to read each carefully, and if you're unsure what you're meant to do, ask in the discussion thread and verify your pick with an organiser - for this year it will be Necro or Bounty Hunter.

    Missed Picks:

The draft runs under a 24 Hour rule. In other words, you have 24 hours to make your pick from the moment the person prior to you has made theirs. This will be enforced so as not to slow down the game. If you think you are going to miss your window, PM someone a list of who you'd like and they can make your pick for you. Should you miss your window, your pick will be pushed back to the end of that round.

Side Note: As a general rule, players tend to PM the next player in line after they make their pick. This is done both out of courtesy and to ensure smooth running of the draft.

    Write Up Rules

Once the picks are made and rosters are assembled, the write ups commence. Prior to last year, it has usually been a rule of 4/5 shows (weekly shows with a PPV at the end) is the maximum amount of shows a player could post.

However, to reflect the dwindling efforts of the players to commit to a huge body of work/time in reading others work, it was changed to a maximum of 4 posts.

Below is an outline of how the order of your posts may run, although variations are acceptable once they are within the guidelines of 4 posts per player:

1 post that will be your company statement – This will outline your company history and roster.

1 post that will preview your PPV – This will be a post dedicated to how your PPV came about, like a preview post. It will outline whos feuding with who, why the feuds began, how they escalated and what their status is before the PPV and how they turned into matches for your PPV.

2 PPV posts – This is your show, and the crown jewel of all your hard work. It will be the payoff to your feuds. In this post you will detail your matches that take place on your PPVs, what happened in your matches, who got their win and who took the loss, the outcome of the match and the aftermath of your feud. . Your PPV is one post but due to posting restrictions on images, you may spread your show over 2 posts if needed. (one show split into two parts, eg first 3 matches take place in part one and next 3 take place in part 2). You can have no more than 2 posts for your PPV.

The above is only a reference guide to help new players and give them an idea of the expectations. You can do whatever you like within the 4 posts really, and it is a max guideline - not a minimum. If you want to submit less, that's perfectly okay - but please try at the bare minimum to submit a PPV card.

Note - Rules may be amended during the contest to help run the game smoother if it's felt this is necessary but we will aim to ensure everyone is kept up to date if this has to happen.

It all begins again - tomorrow. Stay tuned for the First Round Draw!

And without further adieu, allow me to introduce you to the hosts of this years PW Draft.....

    giphy.gif

    Marvel's Avengers!

    800

As I said before, each and every round will be hosted by a member - or members of the franchise - along with a few special guests of course from the Marvel Universe. Some will come bearing stipulations they feel will spice things up when it comes to drafting your roster.

But the question is.... who goes first....?

    Find out tomorrow morning!

Alright folks, welcome to the 2019 PW Draft. Round 1 is hosted by none other than the greatest American soldier of all time..... and the very first Avenger, so I think it's quite fitting he kicks us off:

    YNJj.gif

Cap was enhanced to the peak of human physicality by an experimental serum and is here with a few words, and of course our beginning stipulation.

    giphy.gif

‘Listen up, draftees! I want the best, the creme de la creme of current superstars. No couch potatoes or injury prone wrecks on my watch! As such, I hereby declare that the only wrestlers that can be drafted in this round are those who have put themselves through the pain barrier in the last six months, live on TV in front of the world!’

    Round 1 Order:
    1. SlickRic
    2. Necro
    3. beakerjoe
    4. A Brad Maddox Guy
    5. Alfred Borden
    6. Bounty Hunter
    7. Shagnastii
    8. JP Liz V1
    9. paulie21
    10. daithi1989
    11. Mr. Guappa
    12. Mr. Nice Guy
    13. Lord TSC
    14. Ruat Caelum
    15. DM_7

Stipulation: Only wrestlers who have had a televised match in the past six months are eligible for drafting in this round. (For the benefits of those with better tech know-how than Cap, televised also includes live matches on other forms of media such as Facebook, or their own network for example).

At a press conference to kick off the new season...

MNG Press Officer: Ladies and gentlemen, last season Monday Night Grappling succeeded in winning the Draft ratings war for an unprecedented fourth time. This season we go for an historic fifth crown and to spearhead our new push we would like to introduce you to someone who will be making his appearance in our promotion for the first time. He is a multiple time World Champion, Royal Rumble winner, someone who has main evented Wrestlemania, with a bloodline in this very business. Give it up for...

    ...Randy Orton!

MNG Press Officer: Why don't you come up here and properly introduce yourself, Randy?

Orton: Thank you, don't mind if I do. Let me say that the list of Draft wins for this promotion is something that attracted me here.

    The MNG Press Officer smiles.

Orton: It is unmatched, unequalled, you might even say...legendary.

    giphy.gif

After hitting an RKO, Orton picks up the mic.

Orton: Oh, how rude of me. I almost forgot to introduce myself. The name's Randy Orton - legend killer.

As Orton leaves to his former theme 'Burn in My Light' it seems the Legend Killer has arrived in Monday Night Grappling. What does this mean for the company and who will be in the cocky superstar's sights?

    Monday Night Grappling roster:

    1. 'The Legend Killer' Randy Orton

'It is better to walk alone in the right direction than follow the herd walking in the wrong direction.'

    Marvel, Avengers.

You can't have a super hero theme without this guy, someone who wears ring gear inspired by Marvel comics.

Here he is now with some Spiderman comics inspired gear.

    Johnny Gargano

Every super hero also needs a villain. Marvel have one in this guy:

The whole wrestling world has been talking about nothing else but the huge news that Ronda Rousey has signed with the GWA.

This piqued the interest of a certain Canadian superstar, who has made GWA representatives aware of her availability:

    TRISH STRATUS!!

Will these two icons of female sports cross paths in the GWA?

DPW had been in contact with my wrestlers about signing for the brand, but some have been put on the back burner after be restricted to deal with Non-American talent.

DPW have come across an individual who has a massive future in the industry, and we here hope to help push him onto bigger and better things!

    DPW drafts... From Birmingham, England..

The current WWE UK Champion, The Bruiserweight..

DIY (prior to the stip) and Kenny Omega we’re strongly being considered, I had even half considered Reuniting Bret and Shawn but now in advance of the next round draw I need someone on HBKs level so I have options at the top of the card.

As a result I’m taking a current world champion and for the 2nd/3rd time in a row I’m taking the current IWGP champ at the time of drafting and in his case the record setting eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion,

Hiroshi Tanahashi welcome back to the BWA!

Will add a pic when I’m home and will try to pm Al before then (stupid phone)

It appears Round 2 is almost complete, with only 5 players left to draft:

    Remaining Round 2 Order:
    • Alfred Borden
    • A Brad Maddox Guy
    • beakerjoe
    • Necro
    • SlickRic

Time that Round 3 was posted (Also, I'm at work from now till 6pm so want to get it up to keep the game running smoothly)!

    Round 3 - Ultron's Invasion

Unfortunately, fellow draftees - Ultron has invaded Earth - which means.... no Avengers are free to make a stipulation! We did have the evil one stop by briefly though, but the draft didn't really interest him:

As a result this round has no stipulations attached. Draft whoever the flock you want (within the rules of course)!

    Round 3 Order:
    1. Bounty Hunter
    2. SlickRic
    3. Necro
