Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Am I being conned with boiler repair?

    Hi folks, would like some advice here. My gas boiler, Classic FF 350 has stopped lighting up when turned on. Just clicks when flame is meant to come on but no flames. Repair man says it needs new fan. He but some grease on it it to get it going temporarily but said this won't last long. All in he is charging €550 for this part, service and call out. Seems a bit eccessive to me. Hate to think I'm being had. Any advice? Thanks.

    The price seems a bit strong, but at the end of the day, he is making two calls to your home, a trip to the distributor for the part, sounds competent and capable, presumably has the certifications required to carry out this type of work, and it is 12 days before Christmas in the middle of a building boom.

    This boiler is installed 15 years?

    You might be better off replacing it. You are only going to get a few more years out of it anyway.
