Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Affordable PADI certification in Cork?

    Hi guys, basically I'm a student going volunteering in the Summer with no dice experience or equipment so far. I need to be PADI certified before I go. Where would be the best place to go around Cork.

    Should I buy my gear or do they provide it?

    http://oceanaddicts.ie/ basedin Kinsale is probably your best bet. They'll provide gear.

    Though my advice would be to join a club you'll get far more extensive training and come out of it as a better diver - I'm saying that having been trained by PADI but am now part of a CFT club. Try http://diving.ie/join-a-club-today/ for your nearest club.

    If you're W Cork rather than Cork, go to Aquaventures in Baltimore, otherwise OceanAddicts as suggested.

    Although, Meanaspie, I'm baffled: The OP specifically said he wanted PADI certification (which is recognised worldwide). Why TF would you recommend them to go to a CFT club (which will get them the not-universally-recogised) CFT/CMAS qualification?

    I know OP specifically said PADI perhaps they are not aware of other organisations many people with no diving experience aren't. Also CMAS is universally recognised, I've never been anywhere that doesn't recognise it. The reason I suggested it as I mention I think they will get more extensive training and come away a better diver. I've experience of both PADI and CFT training and I know which in my opinion is better.
