    Hi guys,

Firstly if this topic is in the wrong area, apologies!

I was wondering if someone could help me understand if I could use GIMP over adobe photoshop.

Im looking to design sport jerseys as a hobby.. Ive not used photoshop or GIMP before so would be new to any platform.

I dont really have the money right now for adobe so, GIMP caught my attention.

I see a lot of people posting tutorials on how to design sport jerseys with photoshop but not seen anything with GIMP, which makes me wonder is it possible?

Can you make something like a sport jersey with GIMP? or do you need adobe?

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!

Depends what you are doing. If its Vector or Raster/Pixel based.

I would have thought something like Inkscape.

If you don't have enough money right now, go for GIMP then. It's perfectly fine. You can still design your jersey on it, no worries!

It is very easy to pirate Photoshop because Adobe wants people to pirate it. They allow this to happen so it is the industry standard and then they make money from businesses. Adobe doesn't want money from a guy designing jerseys.

I am in favour of GIMP because as a beginner, it was easy for me to customize. Similarly, I don't have enough RAM to run Photoshop on my PC that's why I also prefer the GIMP. However, the features that Adobe offers to its premium users are outstanding. But, I don't think as a beginner you should pick any of them because it becomes tough for newbies to try premium apps.

In this regard, I can suggest you to use free versions of Canva ( https://www.canva.com/ ), Inkscape, BannerBoo ( https://bannerboo.com/ ) or Adobe Spark ( https://spark.adobe.com/ ). Actually, it is always good to try from online or free software in graphic designing industry and later, you can move forward step-by-step. These apps year subscription is low as compared to Adobe Photoshop etc. It was my personal opinion, but if you have enough budget, then you can also try with premium apps. It's up to you.

Jump is easier to work with, but there is limited functionality.
