Due to the personal nature of some of the discussions in this forum, posting anonymously here is permitted. Anyone can post anonymously by logging out (if registered) and posting a reply.

    1. If you are logged in under your username, then log out of your regular account.

    2. Navigate to the forum that you want to make an anonymous post in. If you are creating a new thread, then click on the 'New Thread' button as per usual.

    3. If you are replying anonymously to an existing thread, navigate to the thread in question, and click on the 'Post Reply' button as per usual.

    4. In the 'New post' page that appears, enter the anonymous username of your choice. Please consider using a unique name for clarity's sake so that your posts can be identified and we do not have several people using the function at the same time all listed as "Unregistered" with in the one thread.

    5. When you click on 'Submit Reply'/'Post New Thread', a 'thank you' message will appear to verify that your post has been submitted.

Please note that your post/thread will NOT appear straight away in the forum. All anonymous posts have to be approved by a moderator, and depending on the time of the day, this may take anything from a few minutes to a few hours.

Posting Anonymously from the Touch Site

Posting anonymously is currently not supported by the touch site. Boards.ie are aware of this, and the development team are looking into it to see what can be done.

For now, as a workaround, to post anonymously from your phone, log out of touch.boards.ie and click on the 'Full Site' link at the bottom of the page. This will allow you to view the standard site on your phone, and you can post anonymously from there by following the above instructions.

When you have completed posting anonymously, click on the 'Touch Site' link at the bottom of the page to revert back to the touch site.

    Points to note:
    • We take the anonymity of all posters seriously. Any attempts to out the identity of an anonymous poster will be met with zero tolerance.
    • If you are a regular user posting as unregistered you cannot edit your unregistered post. And the moderators cannot guarantee to edit your post the next morning if you have any regrets about what you posted as we cannot guarantee that you are the original poster.
    • This system cannot be abused, please. While moderators do not have access to the identity of an anonymous poster, the owners/Administrators of boards.ie do have the powers to view any post's IP address but only as a last resort.
