Costigan wins in Germany

    Catherine Costigan of Pankration Limerick competed on the We Love MMA card in Berlin on Saturday night and won by guillotine in the first round, defeating a very game Vanessa Reinsch. This was Catherine’s pro debut but she took it all her in stride and put in a very solid performance, landing some nice strikes standing and in the clinch before locking in the choke.

    There’s a lot of hassle trying to run MMA events in Germany apparently (last event was stopped by politicians a few days out) so it was cool to see the event go off well. Pretty cool event overall, I’ve never been at a MMA event quite like it, it was uber-chilled out, there was a complete lack of eyeballing and posturing, and not a meathead in a Tapout shirt in site. Oh, and lots of complementary sandwiches backstage, Irish promoters ye need to get on that! :pac:
