Are centre fire moderators restricted?

    I've been trawling through the firearms acts and statutory instruments.

    I came across the restricted firearms and ammunition order 2008.

    It states that all firearms that aren't mentioned sub paragraph 2 are restricted firearms.

    I found this line.

    (d) silencers capable of being used only with long rifled rim-fire firearms;

    This line states that silencers that are for long rimfires are unrestricted.

    But I don't see any mention of centre fire moderators? Does this mean that these are restricted?

    I'm struggling to see otherwise so I hope someone can shed some light on it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Nope.

    You need to read SI 337/2009 which amends SI 21/2008, specifically section 5 of SI 337/2009 which states:
    5. Article 4(2) of the Principal Order is amended—

    in subparagraph (d) by the deletion of the word “rim-fire”, and

    Which means SI21/2008 now reads:
    silencers capable of being used only with long rifled firearms

    Thank you Cass for quoting the amendment. I was wondering where it existed.

    Much appreciated.
