The 'men' kicking the protester in the head? Agreed.

    Guess again.

Why would you fight with a non-violent movement?
Because they wont get out of my way. Shove their " peaceful protest" up their hole

They seem to be under the impression that they have some kind of right or authority to block people's path.

Yes the disappearing wildlife and ecosystems will just start to replenish by themselves and the oceans will clean themselves up and everything will go back to how it was 100 years ago, phew

Your posts make you sound like you've watched too many Clint Eastwood films.

Clint Eastwood not particularly found of his old stuff tbh. Gran Tourino. Great movie, his character doesn't suffer idiots. Neither did the commuters this morning this must be fans too.

How does taxing plant food remove the plastic floating in the ocean?

What did you do in the years before the environment was polluted beyond repair?

I slagged off the people wanting to fix it on the internet son.

I'm a big supporter of environmental policies and a greener economy, but I think an aspect of these protests are just feeding the far right with fodder by being so unfocused.

They're creating awareness and expressing anger, but I'm seeing very little in the way of calls for action to do something pragmatic and deliverable and some of the protests in London over the last 24 hours have actually targeted public transport, which is completely counterproductive.

It's all very well expressing annoyance with the status quo, but you also have to provide leadership towards alternatives. The Green Parties and similar movements all do that and do it very well but some (and I stress some not all) of these protests are just really lacking that. It's ending up looking more like anarchy.

My concern is that they'll actually turn people off what are really important issues by going that bit too extreme and actually end up undermining the Green movement rather than helping it by pushing it into the extremities of politics instead of the mainstream.

In Europe in general there has been a lot of mainstreaming of Green policies and politics. To me, I just see more US polarised politics being imported to Europe. The US has a huge issue with climate change denial, anti-science, anti-expert and conspiracy theorist nonsense. In general, Europe hasn't had that level of insanity (it has had some but nothing like not he scale of Trumpish America). However, we're now seemingly importing the whole polarisation of an us vs them mentality that really risks a lot of problems.

Sorry now but when I say motorway I mean private cars

And when I say airport I mean commercial flights and particularly private planes.

Yeah, let's leave the Y2K bug out of this bunch of usual suspects. It was a real thing and it went away because a whole lot of money was spent on fixing it.

So basically anyone who questions Al Gore's hockey stick is essentially a member of the SS in your mind?

You do realized that making such cheap slurs is the PRIMARY reason why people hate Leftists these days?

Leftists! Lovin it. Waiting for libtard, SJW and snowflake. And Warmunist. My new favourite word. Let's kick the ****e out of all those goddam warmunists. Where's ma gun Maw?

We are all consumers and hypocrites but we need a new system or the Earth is f*cked!

    Changes are indeed needed..

Scientifically proven incremental changes across society, changes that both benifet climate and biodiversity but allow society to continue functioning...

But these idiots peddaling their doomsday scenario while holding some cort of carnival intent on making a nusience of themselves is no way to do it.

For most of these people, they’re paying a hefty chunk of their salary every day just to get to work on an overcrowded, overpriced and delayed service. Then this guy pops up and is basically like group therapy to them

Agreed, reminds me of Occupy and BLM and how their most extreme adherents were handy for some well-poisoning.

    Just to repeat my view

I fully support the Irish XR

The London version that is going after public transport does not have my support

Blockade a motorway or airport instead I would support

Have a go trying to block the M50 or M7 and see how it goes?
What will blocking a motorway achieve tell me ?

I'd love to see them try to do a blockade at the airport, it would be seen as very serious and they wouldn't get very far. I must send Beechwoodspanks a postcard from the USA :P
