If you can get her away from the fashion brand angle I'd go for a small dialled bauhaus design watch. Something like an Antea KS or Nomos Tagente. The Antea KS is bang on €1k, dainty proportions 35.5 x 44.6 x 6.9mm with an 18mm thin black strap.



In reality a quartz Michael Kors/Daniel Wellington would probably be what she has in her head/what's perceived as a recognizable "good watch" in her circle of friends. Not sure about a handwider if she'd be into that - it could be the start of her education!

It's so hard to get something decent and recognizable (brand wise) in a woman's watch at this budget compared to the men's market, better getting something unisex and restrained. I'm not sure used is the way to go for a milestone gift to the other half who's not into watches.

Curved ball - yer man Oisin from Timeless Watch Channel gave his missus a Omega speedy reduced 3510 which I think looks fantastic on her. You'd be stretched enough finding one close to budget.

@ thirdfox I'm always sickened how good value Ladies watches are compared to mens. Nothing ruins my day more than browsing watches on C24 and thinking you've found the bargain of the century only to realise its the ladies version.

@ OP, I'd really try to stay away from the fashion brands. The first watch I bought my wife (then girlfriend) was a Michael Korrs because that's what she wanted. The quality of it really is bad, whatever way they coated the metal it completely tarnished after a few years. They even feel plasticy. The Stowa above is a great suggestion. I really like Junghans max bill too. Black Dial wouldn't be my choice but here it is, the leather strap is just an add on when purchasing. The Cartiers would have brilliant brand recognition but most women aren't really open to buying used. You'd know better.

Say for that Sinn - 38.5mm is definitely unisex. And quite a few of the Cartiers can be dual use too in my opinion. No need to always wear 42mm+ - 36-38mm would be regarded as large by Wibbs in his vintage collection

Oh and thought for the day - a wife is simply your favorite ex-girlfriend :P

@Fitz - I think the Chanel has good reach with ladies too - they are also "horologically significant" if you put any stock in the GHPG awards - the J12 (not quartz) was a winner for design in ladies watch category.

The ceramic also helps it look new for longer (and for used pieces to look good). There should be brand recognition amongst ladies - maybe even higher than Omega…

I wouldn't be placing the Chanel J12 model in along with Michael Kors and the like - they did design a good watch (I think). It's why I didn't suggest the Versace watch that came up on the C24 search ha :pac:
