Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

voluntary contributions for accepting offer to 2nd level school

    Hi,

    School is asking for coupla hundred when accepting the offer. Its a normal school not a private one. Is it ok to leave it to when the child actually has settled on the place.? There is another school we are interested in and this contribution is non refundable.

    I’m fairly sure that under the 2018 Admission to Schools Act, non fee paying schools can’t insist on contributions or enrollment fees being paid before a child starts in the school.

    They are not insisting on it. It says its voluntary. Your point is well made in relation to the act you mentioned and that is important. I was kind of taken aback that they would ask for a voluntary contribution at the acceptance stage. I dont have any issues paying it if he goes there. Suppose trying to find out is it a common practices and what ppl think of it. I personally think its ok when the child actually starts in the school.
