Wait what. That would be news even to me, and I run the bloody IndyCar sub!

As far as I am aware, it's not gone any further than AMSP having stated they would be interested in Perez being in a third car.

You are correct - not offered in the literal sense of a contract.can't see Perez leaving F1 anytime soon.

How did AMSP let Jimmy Johnson slip through their hands especially after acquiring the #48 ?

Great battle between Hertas and Veekays.

Great having racing on a Friday night in October.

Dissapointed to see the 2021 calendar has a September end date

This is great racing. Drivers having good respect for each other (Ferruci not included :pac:). No, seriously, Friday night racing going down a treat!!

Well that was an interesting qualifying.

Dixon looked to have this championship done and dusted months ago but now Newgarden is making serious inroads into Dixies lead.

Btw if you haven't seen it Will Powers 'save' yesterday is,as the commentary team said, real Dukes of Hazard stuff.

Great opening laps at Indy race 2

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,619 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Dixon with damage currently running in 11th, 4 places behind Newgarden. Dixon may be losing his grip on the championship!!

As an aside - Liberty (owners of F1) have made an investment in the MSR (Meyer Shank Racing) Indy and IMSA team

Sky, what the fùck. Cut the broadcast at twenty past, skipping some post-race analysis; just to show Martin Brundle's grid walk from France 2018.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,498 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Well that was a complete and utter fúcking shambles of broadcasting the St. Pete qualifying from Sky F1...

Race broadcast starts at 18:30 tomorrow, with green flag basically immediately. I half expect Sky to miss the race start now

Sky's coverage has been dissapointing all season long .

Sky's endless repeats of F1 and yet not a single repeated Indy car race no matter what hour of the night the race was is a particular bugbear of mine.

Fingers crossed for Scott Dixon to be crowned champion.

45 laps to go - nerve wracking to watch - some questionable moves by Jack Harvey there - Newgarden took a huge risk in diving under Power who after all said he would help Newgarden today !

The amount of restarts so far. I can't call the winner at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,619 ✭✭✭Infoanon

That was a nail biter !

    Spoilers:

Rossi must be still wondering how he crashed - a race with many in the mix for the win.

4th for Bourdais was as good as a win in that it brings the Foyt team into all important leaders circle ie $$

O Ward had another strong race and made a good attempt to pass Newgarden on the last restart alas another second place .

Askew unfortunately crashed in his last race for McLaren, teammate, O Ward will be a title contender in the future.

Newgarden did all he could but ,despite the best attempts of Jack Harvey, Scott Dixon avoided trouble and got 3rd and a very deserved championship.

Roll on 2021 - Jimmy Johnson and Scott Mc Laughlin joining the fray ! If only they could sort out the calendar...

Oh, whoops, forgot to share it here. This year's Open Test is taking place at Indy and they're testing all day today and tomorrow! (well, when the Indiana weather doesn't get in the way)

    Today's testing is from 4pm to 11pm:

    Tomorrow's testing is from 3pm to 9pm.

Update: following the massive rain delay today, tomorrow's session start has been moved up to 2pm Irish time.

Season starts properly this week, heading to Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama for the first of three straight weekends of racing!

    Broadcast schedule for this weekend:

    Sunday:
    • Race: 8-11pm

    And that's it.

Sky in their infinite wisdom have decided that Saturday's action of first practice at 4pm, second practice at 7:40pm, and qualifying at 10:55pm are nowhere near as important as F1 P3 highlights, a lookback at the 1995 Italian GP, and the second repeats of F1 quali highlights and Ted's notebook.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,498 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Yay, Twitter shaming them worked! FP2 at 7:40, quali at 10:55!

Getting excited now as the first race of the season is almost here, so many questions to be answered?

How will Grosjean perform on his return to single seater (possibly why Sky have increased coverage ) ,
How will Nascar ace Jimmy Johnson perform in his Ganassis,
And Penske have a rookie in the line up ! Tin top ace Scott Mc Laughin.

It's going to be an exciting season , McLaren first win is sure to come soon while the usual Dixon,Power,Newgarden, Rossi etc etc etc will be there or there abouts.

One combination that could surprise is Bourdais at Foyt - roll on Saturday and Sunday.

Grosjean currently fastest in practice. Practice or not, fair play to him and hope he goes well!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,619 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Decent effort by Grosjean in Round 2 of qualifying but did not progress. It's strange seeing the rookie symbol beside his name.

Grosjean narrowly misses out on top 6 shoot out by half a tenth. Starts row 4 tomorrow. Commentators seem impressed by the rookie! Didn't realise he was 35 years old!

This race is starting shortly. Really looking forward to this season, I think this season has the strongest indycar driver lineup since CART in the early 00's

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,619 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

I thought it would start earlier. I want to watch Line of Duty at 9pm!! :pac:
