Loft ladder installation

    Hi all

I bought a 3 section loft ladder that i want to install in my landing. I want it face towards the center of my attic so when I walk up I can stand up. Problem is when I open ladder it is catching on the wall above the bathroom door .

Question is can I cut the middle section in half and add another hinge so it will give me the clearance to open the way I want or will this make the ladder weaker?

If it’s going to affect structure of ladder I can turn around and face towards the eves but this will mean I can’t stand straight up when entering attic.

    Any advice greatly appreciated

    Thanks
    Gary
