Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time one-year fixed term contract position for a Researcher in the development and clinical testing of an Ultra WideBand (UWB)-based biomedical monitoring system. The successful candidate will work in the Electrical & Electronic Engineering discipline, as part of the Bioelectronics Research Cluster of the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science, NUI Galway.

The project aims to commence in October/November 2011, and is funded by the Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Programme. The project is funded for two years, receipt of the second year funding being based on achieving project milestones during the first year. This appointment will be made initially on a one year basis, with the possibility of extension for a further year.

Essential Skills
• A primary honours degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• PhD, Post-Doctoral, or industry experience, in wideband RF analogue circuit (discrete component) transmitter and receiver design, implementation, integration and test for antenna-based systems.

Desirable Skills
• Digital systems hardware and software design and implementation
• Embedded systems integration and testing
• Experience in Ultra Wide Band (UWB) system development
• Development of DSP algorithms for modeling and processing of UWB radar returns

Job Description
The Tree Council of Ireland is seeking an Office Administrator to take on a varied and interesting workload and provide the administrative support within its organisation. The role involves general office management, book-keeping and administrative tasks. The successful applicant will be involved in many activities and will be a key player in ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the Council’s operation.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, President, and other staff should the situation arise
• Use a range of office software including email, word-processing, spreadsheets and databases
• Manage and update website and maintain the Council’s IT support
• Maintain and manage filing systems, memberships and records; administrative, electronic and other
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative processes
• Act as receptionist, answer the telephone and respond to enquiries
• Undertake general office duties
• Organise and despatch mailings and e-mailings to organisation members and others
• Liaise with member organisations schools, local authorities, corporate sponsors and other agencies
• Assist with administration of the Tree Council of Ireland’s Friends’ Scheme and tree sponsorship schemes
