Where do these stones come from

    We're doing the county tops at the moment and we bring one or two 'typical' stones from each hill home with us a reminder of that hill.
    However, one weekend was full of climbing, we got back late on the Sunday night and we didn't label those stones.

    So we now have 6 stones that we're trying to match to 4 hills.
    If any geologist here can identify the types of any rock form the photo and the likely hill/range, that would be much appreciated thanks.

    The hills were:

    Mount Leinster - Blackstairs
    Brandon Hill (Kilkenny)
    Arderin (Slieve Bloom)
    Moylussa Clare.

    These are the stones

    I'll have a stab at this for you later, but if you could take individual photos and put a numbered label in the picture that would be helpful. Also, taking the photos outside in flat light (shouldn't be a challenge!) it would be much easier.

    Okey dokey. The bad news is the top of mount Leinster and Brandon Hill are in the exact same rock type, a granite. That's bottom left and dead centre. There's no way of knowing which is which.

    I think that the far right one is greywacke from Moylussa, which leaves the top right being the sandstone from Arderrin. The top centre is a piece of quartz, and could have come from any of them. If not quartz, it's calcite, and had no business being up any of those hills!
