Carers Benefit or Allowance?

    Hi,

I handed in my notice at the start of the month to my employer as our minder didn't feel comfortable taking our son anymore and trying to find a replacement that would suit his extra needs and not cost more than I make was pretty much impossible to find. This left us with no option but for me to leave.

In the past week, we have been granted DCA for our son so I am now looking to apply for carers. My problem is, I'm not sure which I should apply for. As I've already handed in my notice and won't be returning to work I don't know if I can apply for benefit as it seems to have a return date section on the forms. Is it easier to wait until I leave and apply for carers allowance? I'm so lost with all these forms!
