What is the best way to deal with a starting pitcher calling for the bullpen in the middle of the second inning, admitting he's finished, has no pop on the fastball and no snap on the curve, and taking himself out of the game?

What level are we talking about here, is it the league here in Ireland?

Is he injured? That would be first question I would ask.

    When was his last game?

Did he complete a proper warm up before the game?

Confidence might be gone, may need someone to put their arm around them and reassure them. Also might not want to cost his team the game
