easily the most open tournament in years , quite a lot of players not on form , i fancy MVG but no value in it

How is Aspinall generally playing lately? Might have a few bob on him

I think mvg will win but also think anyone of Wright, Price, Aspinall, De Sousa, Anderson, Smith , Van Den Berg could win. Will definitely have a couple of eachway bets.

Had a good win over Gerwyn Price in the grand slam and then lost to DvdB, lost to Ross Smith last week in a high quality match

If Anderson wins it I’ll make toffee apples out of my balls and eat them :)

Hard to call and anyone of the top 10 could win it

If MVG gets on a roll then he could do it but same can be said for others like Price, G Anderson, Wright and even Aspinal

We all know there will be shocks

By "football style" chanting do they mean that unbearable Yaya/Kolo Toure chant?

Should've banned that long before the pandemic.

  • Registered Users Posts: 264 ✭✭Petyr Baelish

I don't see the crowd cooperating with this. If they all start chanting what are they going to do? Kick them out, stop play? It would be a mess. I wouldn't be surprised to see the crowds banned pretty quickly.

are the fans not covid trested on arrival before entering the arena ?.

Yeah, can't see how it can be policed really.

There's also the possibility that London goes into 'Tier 3' and crowds are banned again.

As with most Covid Guidelines, a lot of it is based on goodwill.

Horrible draw for Keane Barry. I fancy Willie to win his first round and beat Gurney who's in terrible form.

Teehan and Lennon have a great chance in their first round draws but can't see them going any further.

    Other notable draws for me:

    Nathan Aspinall (6) v Scott Waites/Matt Campbell
    Adrian Lewis (21) v Damon Heta/Danny Baggish

Any of the three of those players could win through to Round 3. A horrible draw for Adrian Lewis who really needs a run.

Decent draws there, a few of the seeded players wont have it there way on current form: Durrant Cross, Clemens, Lewis, Van der Voort.

Wonder what chances are on Lisa Ashton beating Adam Hunt

Some tasty games in there in fairness!

Sherrock was 8/1 to beat both Evetts and Sulovic last year. I’d guess Ashton would be similar-ish but i know nothing about Hunt.

That 2nd quarter is a horrible one for the seeds. Could see a couple of Smith, Peterson, Cross,Lewis, Durrant or Anderson going out first round.

    Paddy Powers have it priced

    Ashton 7/4

He beat Gabriel Clemens at the Grandslam few weeks ago and lost a decider to Joe Cullen. Had a good game against Whitlock in the knockout stage losing 10-7 I think. He's handy enough.

Jose de Sousa could have a tricky Rd2 match v Ross Smith
