    Hi all,

Looking to buy one of these guitars but finding it way more difficult than I expected to track one down.

Had a look online and can’t find any in stock, Thomann’s are saying 3/4 weeks priced at €393. When I checked 3 weeks ago it was also saying in stock in 3/4 weeks so not sure if they’ll be getting them restocked any time soon.

Gear4music.ie (anyone ever bought from them?) are saying available to order with an estimated delivery date of the end of October priced at €437.

I would prefer to buy off an Irish store/website owing to the kicking our economy is taking from the covid apocalypse, anyone able to point me in the right direction?

No joy with Goodwins, Waltons, Savins or Pro Musica here in Cork. Is it even possible to buy this guitar in Ireland?

    Cheers.

Have you contacted local music shops to see if they can get them in specially?

Thomann may get stock direct from the supplier so there is always a 3/4 week lead time from the time you place the order.
You could fire them an email and ask.

If local places don't sell them but their distributor does, you may be able to contact a local store and ask them to get one in for you? t's ood way of giving your business to somewhere local. I've had stores order specific instruments/amps in for me in the past no problem, they may ask for a deposit but if it's what you want, what's the harm?

Nice one, I didn’t even think that they’d order in one on my behalf. I’ll ring around tomorrow and see what’s what.

I bought an Epiphone acoustic about 10 odd years ago (in Walton’s I think) but trawling around online there’s barely any Epi’s on sale from the Irish stores. Any idea why?

Gear 4 Music don't ship to Northern Ireland. I'd be surprised if they ship to Eire.

Yeah they do, free delivery with DPD when spending over a certain amount.

Obviously not an Irish company but they even have a .ie web address as well as the .com.

I've bought from gearformusic.ie and they deliver here.

OP do ask around in Irish shops, many are happy to match the Germans for price.

    Hey OP,

I tried getting one of these myself over lock down, and had requested a local store to order one for me, as like yourself, I am consciously trying to support Irish. There is however a lack of Epiphone, and have heard that Irish retailers are struggling somewhat to get gear in, a basically the large European retailers (looking at you Thomann, and Andertons etc) are hoovering up any product.

The dot is a stunning guitar, but in the end, rather than waiting around, I "upgraded" to a Casino, which I got from Musicmaker. My rationale was that as nice as the Dot is, is is an Epi version of a Gibson (and yes, they are sister companies, but still) whereas the Casino is an Epiphone model in it's own right (and the only guitar to have been used on every Beatles session). It's fully hollow (vs. the semi-hollow Dot) which leads to it needing to be managed a bit more, as the feedback is more prevalent in hollow bodies, but it's an absolute beast and a beaut of a guitar. I got it on the basis that I have an Epi Les Paul Standard, and the tone from that and the Epi dot are similar enough, whereas the Casino is a different tone entirely.

So would consider if it is a new guitar for a collection or if it'll be your main guitar.

Other thing to note is that NAMM was cancelled, but over the next few months the companies will be releasing their 2021 stock (new colours etc.) so may be that the guitars are hard to come by as they are last years stock and awaiting the refreshed gear. Usually would be indicated/revealed at NAMM, but that was cancelled this year...

If you have the budget though, and want a ES-335, I see Someneck have a Gibson Satin top ES-335 listed....think of it as an investment!

Found dealing with Gear4Music an absolute nightmare when returning damaged goods.
