Titleist TS3 3 wood (stiff flex, standard lie and loft) for sale, effectively brand new, hit a handful of balls with it.

    Link here: https://www.adverts.ie/drivers/titleist-ts3-3-wood-hit-max-20-balls/21619004

How come your selling it? I bought a new Cobra driver & 3 wood last summer. Got fitted. I was really struggling with 3 wood. So much so this year I considered selling it. As you know clubs aren't cheap these days. I was a bit raging as I didn't really have the money to buy or add to what ever I got for my 3 wood etc for a new club.

Anyway was having a lesson with my Pro and I mentioned it to him saying I think I was fitted wrong. He worked on it with me for the remainder of the lesson. Absolutely smashing it. Went to course following week and as usual like normal couldn't even get the ball in the air. But kept at it and after a few weeks its coming back and my confidence is growing.

    Just my 2 cents.

the club is worth about 80.

a bog standard regular shafted M4 5 wood.

this is whats wrong with adverts/donedeal. People thinking their clubs are worth way more than they are and the don't sell - case in point scotty cameron putters.

I just sold an mint M4 3 wood with aldila rogue silver shaft for 100. Delighted to get it.

    Thanks for your input.

Have a look at golfbidder or the PGA guide and you will find it is fairly priced.

There’ll always be a bit of haggle space, but your post is unwarranted with your ffs etc.

    Play well.

Price of second hand equipment have rocketed recently, more playing I guess

Should see a drop over winter, would be time to pick up some bargains as people who started might decide it’s not the game for them. People had a lot of time during lockdown and were looking for hobbies. That might change with work etc back to normal

Kinda the same with me,but back to normal on the course. But it’s hit and miss and sometimes I don’t know where the ball is going to go.. loosing a lot of confidence and not trusting them

Just put a brand new Ping 410 up on Adverts

I got this in my own club with unused credit and was hoping McGuirks would take it and give me credit for nearly the full amount ( I had done this before). The guy in the shop told me he can only give me cost value of €320 and they sell for €455. Is this a new thing or did I get unlucky with the shop manager?

    Hi all,

I'm looking to get a starter set for my young fella who has decided he now wants to get into golf! He's 13 years old, I dont want to splash out too much as he may well decide its not for him but most of his mates are getting into it now also so it's likely he will continue. I had him hitting a few balls before and he liked it so fingers crossed.

Ideally he'd need a stand bag and whatever clubs juniors start out with (?).

    Any ideas? Thanks guys.

What height is he? Has he had a growth spurt yet or not?

At that age, either a beginner set or 2nd hand adult sized set is probably best - as he's not likely to need shorter junior lengths for long (if at all).

Depending on where he is in his growth - adult ladies clubs might actually be the best fit for 2/3 years (although he mightn't like hearing that :P)

  • Registered Users Posts: 637 ✭✭✭Arsenium

Hmm...not sure what exact height he is. He definitely has stretched in the last while for sure. I'll need to discreetly find out his height as this is to be a present! Good call on the ladies clubs. And as you say....no need for him to even be aware of it :-)
At the moment it's just something to allow him get into the game that I'm after. If he takes a shine to it and wants to continue then we can see about a better set etc. But for the moment, not looking to break the bank.

Most new sets I see just come with high loft driver, a hyrbrid and a 7 iron and a wedge. Is that the norm or would there be fuller sets available?
    Thanks again.

Granted its nearly 20 years ago now but when I started playing as a junior member my Dad got me a set with a 3 wood, 5i, 7i, 9i and putter. I already had a PW from my pitch and putt days so that was my bag for a good few years. Playing off junior tees and it was fine to get started with. When I started growing at around 13/14 I graduated to a full adult sized set, Spalding irons and MacGregor woods and that worked for me up until I gave up the game at around 16. I would say start with something similar and see how he likes it and take it from there. I saw one of the Facebook pages selling junior sets as a masters special, might have been Deise golf world, let me see if I can find it and I'll post it here.

Link here (its Facebook only, sorry if you don't have it) https://www.facebook.com/deisegolf/photos/pcb.10158670027781212/10158670026626212/

Those are usually the sets for even younger kids - the teenager/young adult isn't quite so well served with sets as such.

I know it's a ladies set - and colours etc might be a sensitive issue - but the below from McGuirks looks decent but is at the higher end of what a junior set would cost

    https://www.mcguirksgolf.com/p/macgregor-dct2000-lds-cart-7-s-package-set--ladies-right-hand/mc8c0104001

Ultimately - at the age he is, then if he takes to the game he won't be long graduating to adult men's clubs - for shaft stiffness if nothing else. Hard to know if you'd be better looking for a 2nd hand set to start off with - or if a new one would have resale value in a couple of years.

    EDIT

they actually have a "teen" option from the same range

Why are you selling if you don't mind me asking? Looking at getting the V3 myself and wondering what put you off them.

Nothing put me off, I loved it in fact. I have had it since it came out new and have years of data on club distances, putts per round etc which is enough at this stage and I've also purchased a rangefinder.
