Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Sounds ideal, 15-30 degrees, some chance of rain but probably still better than driest of the Irish summers.

    Posted in Travel. Virgin are offering great deals on Upper Class to the States for someone who wants to travel well.

    Florida = good weather. Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Deerfield the winter was kinda like a warm Irish summer. Wouldn't recommend going there though. Don't know much about Orlando though. Ft Lauderdale beach is full of gangs and pimps. Dump of a place.

    By your own admission you know f**k all about it, and yet you still recommend avoiding. Some people....... it’s a great part of the world OP. Go at least once .

    I meant Miami. Should have made that clearer but it was late. Wouldn’t recommend anyone goes there.

    Took a trip to Miami, Lauderdale and West Palm Beech in November. It was fabulous. Rented a car and drove around (traffic is crazy however). Absolutely zero issues with gangs or crime. There is a stark contrast between the enormous wealth and the poverty, but never felt troubled. Florida is the warmest part of the US during the winter months and the climate is very agreeable. Miami is a far south as Dubai so climate wise it's a great location for winter holidays. The only negative was Miami airport, the terminal Aer Lingus use is a kip compared to the other areas.

    Would go back to Miami in a heart beat great beaches good food, better Cuban food than Cuba. Excellent night life and safe as houses tbh.
    Flights at that price snap them up.

    It depends on where you are staying.If staying in a Disney hotel and just going to the Disney parks you won't need one for this part of your trip however the Kissimmee,Orlando,International Drive area is huge and is really not very walkable.

    If going to Orlando and just doing Disney would drive a parent demented. Universal is much better for older kids (adults too) so I would not restrict yourself to Disney and because of such I would definitely recommend getting a car. There is quite a bit to see other than the parks (e.g. Kissimee, Int Drive etc. )so you'd be limiting yourself also without a car.

    As for the temp in winter, I couldn't say exactly but but for comparison I can say that we spent Paddy's Day of 11-12 years ago on South Beach and we had to regularly go into the sea to keep cool/avoid sunburn. The water was in no way cold, just nice.

    There's a whole thread on Orlando somewhere on boards.....on mobile so can't search right now but it's very comprehensive and very good.
