Some here are suffering from Metathesiophobia. The fear of change. Axe the tax now!

I have adapted. I'm lecturing no one just raising the question. What are some posters afraid of?

Extra carbon taxes are coming anyway.

    That is unfair!

This wasn't done before check the facts. Tax was removed from some cars but not all and wasn't added to excise!
Do you not like the results?

I hope people here see what is going on. Derailing the thread because they don't like what it is saying.

The thread seems to be hijacked by a mod of all people!

    Why don't you respond?

    Is everything okay with you?

You have an unhealthy obsession of abolishing car tax for some reason and now just posting to bump the thread hoping people will see this thread and reply to you.

    Its kind of creepy.

I think it's a weird thing for a mod to change the questions on a poll mid post. Especially without consultation with the OP and with an error.

I think it’s weird to have a hidden poll in the first place.

I didn't want to influence anyone. Result visible in a few days. If it's allowed to stay.

    Why would result influence anyone?

It's well known that some people are swayed by the trend goes in making a vote. Less of a distraction too.

I’d say the petrol stations across the border would agree with the OP

There would be a very sharp drop in tax from the border counties

and a massive uptake in VAT from companies selling fuel bowsers.

2500l UN road transport approved bunded fuel bowser is £3-4k depending on where you get it , not calculating for the bulk buying discount but you'd pay for the thing in 10 fills if it went 16 cent over the north.I use about 90-100 litres of diesel a week, id have to go up north twice a year which I do more than that anyway, 5 years in on a bowser that most have a 10-15 year warranty and its paid for itself, yet again with no bulk discount.

In the period 2010 to 2011 the price of diesel went up from ave 1.22 to 1.41. A 19c increase!

I don't recall any massive disruption due to it. Maybe people drove a bit less.

We are talking about something similar here, less if you take into account inflation.

Thanks for the advice but I'd like a generally fairer system overall. What you say would be an option for just a few.

Why do you think the current system isn't fair?

I'd guess because he drives a high tax older car and does fcuk all miles and cycles about the place. Not that he'll tell us. He's been asked enough times.
