    Hello folks,

I have Laurel plants already 2 years old and not thriving as well as they should.
I should have erected this windbreaker years ago but now I am doing it.
The plants are mostly a metre high, some are half that, and they are on the front boundary of my site. Wide open fields facing them. No wall and the westerly wind hits them full on.
I would like to know please how far away should the windbreak mesh be from the hedge?
On a side note, I have just cut the hedge back hard as I was told this will stimulate growth. I am also giving it potato fertilizer.

Many thanks for your kind help,

    John.

It can be reasonably close but give the hedge room to grow a bit, maybe 12- 15" from the plant stems. You will be taking it down when the hedge is established and able to look after itself.

how high should the windbreaker mesh be. There is 1.5 metres and 1 metre. As said the plants are mostly 1 metres and some half that.

    Cheers
