Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

cycle against traffic

    Can you cycle against traffic in mandatory cycle lane?.Just curious saw someone doing this today. in a country town not city in case that matters

    Most cycle lanes are one-way, with the direction of travel marked with arrows. Some are two way, with separate lanes for those travelling in either direction.

    I'm not sure if there is actually legislation about cycling in the wrong direction through. It's a bit inconsiderate to other users of the bike lane, at the least.

    A bicycle is a vehicle much the same as a car or truck and is required to cycle in the left lane unless there is a contra flow cycle lane. I have seen more and more people cycling the wrong way up cycle tracks recently often veering onto footpaths or coming to a complete stop when they encounter another cyclist in the opposite direction. Clearly, in Dublin at least, there are a lot more people out cycling but things like this make me wonder about on sense. What happens when the lane narrows or you encounter a cyclist using it properly, seems like a prospect for a serious accident to me.
