Hi everyone, wondering are there what I'd call "very junior" football teams around Galway for a 41 year old?

I haven't played since I was mid teens and since my eldest lad started playing in the club nursery I've massive regret about not playing all through my twenties. Only cared about who was heading out each Friday and Saturday night back then.

I'm reasonably fit and can kick with both feet. Ive trained in my thirties with the odd junior team depending on where I was living and working at the time, and always struggled with the running into contact and using my spare arm to fend off the tackler. Lads who've played all their lives do this without thinking, but it limited me and affected my confidence when training with those teams. I've looked online but couldn't find any drill videos to do with this. But I can kick, handpass and solo well on both feet.

If there were any masters type of teams around Galway I'd be interested. Would like to be involved in some form of Galway junior championship, C or lower!

I'm just conscious that C could be pretty stocked in some big clubs as they'd have numbers of older players and young lads. I'm not affiliated with any club at the moment and aren't near enough my own club to train.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Dads and Lads has taken off in a big way but if you’re fit play as high a level as you can.

A lot of Clubs now have a Dads and Lads team.

Try googling Galway Dads and Lads.

Thanks for that. Yeah I heard of it but was still half hoping to give a junior team a lash, especially to be involved in championship matches. I think Dad's and Lads is non competitive?

Ive seen hurling in Galway last year run off junior D, E championships so am wondering if football is the same. Couldn't find much online about it. I just saw those hurling junior photos in the local papers after the finals.

Football in Galway runs down to Junior D level. It would depend where you are living, nearest which club etc. Are you city or county?
