I'm only leaving Limerick in the next hour or so on the bus. If the weather is not ****e I'll go and give off a bash, will it count if I do it later? To be fair I'm unlikely to break 10mins

not sure if i started in the correct place but i did a standing start.

very happy with that considering i'm 2.5Kg heavier than last yr, was using the heavy Focus cayo(with a creaky clikky BB) (rather than my preferred Canyon Endurace, in the LBS), and prob have 50-60% less miles and elevation in the legs than this time last year, and of course i'm a yr older and have many more grey hairs(many):P

    It'll count if you're slower than 8'43 ;-)

I opted to entertain my dad by having him take me for a driving lesson.

On my way home now, might suit up to do this*

*Might just play a video game

    7:55 for me.
you went up it faster than i usually average on the flat.

having never been up it, what's the best approach? steady all the way? or can you gas it a bit at first and recover a bit on that downhill section?

Keep it in the big chain ring. It's never too steep at any part of the climb and then you get to pick up good speed when you get to the rolling parts.

Full gas all the way for me when i do it.

i'll be amazed if i do it in under 10 minutes. hoping that the weather - and my meetings - allow me to squeeze out at lunchtime.

Well, that proves I'm not sur la jus. 10:47. Fairly constant SSE breeze though. That's my excuse.

The thing I notice going up there is, if the wind is with you going up , as you begin to turn near the car park it will be in your face for the final stretch . That’s when the gasket blows off completely
It also works the opposite way. During the really cold spell lately it was in your face up to the car park

i'd have settled for a nice westerly all the way.

had an interesting meeting with my boss earlier. it was my final performance dialogue session for the year, and i mentioned in it 'i'm probably going to head out today and race some internet weirdoes up a hill in dublin (he's in germany), even though they did it yesterday' and his reaction was 'what are you waiting for? go now.'

i hope this doesn't affect my performance rating.

'what are you waiting for? go now.'

This stands for "you're fired" in Germany.

Eh is there a prize for lanterne rouge?

    15:29

That wind was rather unpleasant and clearly I don't have nearly enough miles and hills in the legs...

13:17 On Saturday - my excuse is that I had about 75k done by the time I got to the bottom of the hill ; otherwise I could have easily broken the 13 even.:o
