Does anyone know if it is possible to take the Luas from the Red Cow to Tallaght and what part of Tallaght it comes into?

You can take it - but give it back when you are finished. :)

It will drop you between The Square, the council offices and the hospital: http://www.luas.ie/tallaght.html

It takes about 10 minutes, although occasionally, you will need to change tram at Belgard

Trams to Tallaght terminate at the Square.
