    I would like to put a ceiling fan in my conservatory does anyone know shops that sell them. Argos have a few. my local shops dont seem to stock any. I'm looking for a wooden one.

    damn that was lucky, looking for info myself, just looked in argos magazine and said i'd do a check for previous threads and this appeared.

    I'm looking to know if the ceiling fans can be attached to the standard ceiling fittings that are present in a home, or do i need to install something else as well

    sorry about late reply, broadband was down.

    Did not get one as yet.

    But before I buy, i'd like a lot more information.

    needed to know about the ceiling itself;

    is a bracket needed to hold the fan, does the fan come with a bracket.
    Can all ceilings hold the weight of a fan.

    I searched various sites and watched youtube videos etc., but none were detailed and mostly U.S. electrical connections.

    I have a friend whose a retired electrician, and I'm seeing him Sunday, so will ask him.

    looks like its been a while on this thread, perhaps a good time to revive it given the summer here..? Feel like we have a lot of ceiling fan options in Ireland in 2021 vs 2012, but it is still tricky to understand feasibility of ceiling fans.

    what have guys thoughts about ceiling fans? I'll take my house as an example -
    1. 8 feet (~266cm) ceilings. ceiling fans without any downrod seem to come down about 36cm from ceiling, so that's only 7 feet left in a family of <6feet people.     3. wall mounted fans. there are not many good looking options. the one option from amazon is also on aliexpress. so china made, not sure of quality. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QCRYLT2/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_api_glt_fabc_TRAPVVD5RVTX9AJ269D7 wall mounted so not as uniform air circulation as ceiling mounted.

    what have folks tried out in Ireland and what has worked for you?
