Definitely tempted to give myprotein another go after scrolling through their prices!

Is this myprotein stuff a whey blend?
I could figure out what you were getting at with the above. but it makes sense now...
I was basing this on mp isolate

The comparison was MP impact isolate chocolate 5kg - €99.39
    MP bars x 12 - €21.29
Delivery takes 2-5 days on orders over €60

    Perfect body
On gold standard chocolate 4.5kg - €102.95 incl. free multivitamins
    On bars x 12 = €24.60
Above also includes free gift and free next day delivery on orders over €50
That's MP Isolate. Not a like for like comparison. ON Gold standard isn't an isolate. It's a whey protein blend. The protein content for ON (79%) is actually lower than the regular Impact Whey (WPC) from MP (81%).

But even still, MP's Isolate is still cheaper, and it's a 10% bigger bag. That's even before you add in the discount. Any where that I've compared prices, I've left out the discount.

    MyProtein's vanilla tastes the same.

Ah I just took the label for its word.

Will defo give mp a try next time I'm making an order.
Their flavour list is abit daunting. Any recommendations?

What flavour ON did you get? I'd guess vanilla so just go with vanilla from MP.

Easy mistake to make. I thought it was a isolate too until I started checking labels and ingredients.

I haven't tried any of the unusual flavours. But vanilla, choc and strawberry are good and mix well.

A good option is to buy unflavoured whey, and a few different flavour drops to mix at home.

Which have the highest/truest protein content now? I remember there was tests done and results shown before that none of them actually have as much protein as claimed, but ON's had the highest. Wondering if there are any updated stats for this

The prices for some supps are ridiculous though, they wouldn't be so high if people would stop paying for a while

^^ myprotein is 90%, ON is 91% and 80% of claimed percentages.

It's worth noting that the ON at the top is only claiming 56%, that's not ON Gold Standard, it's some cheap whey from America.

Myprotein was in the top 3. But the guy who done the tests even said himself they weren't 100% accurate.

Sincerely annoyed about that. Alot of time bad mouthing concentrates thinking I had an isolate.
Will defo be going for myprotein next time.... still have one kilo of on cookies and cream to finish.

anyone know if there is any point or any problem with taking protein that is out of date by a month, is it completely pointless to be still taking it at all?

It's effectiveness drops off the longer it's stored but unless it smells off or there are clumps in it, it will be fine. The protein doesn't evaporate straight away or anything.

It will still supplement your protein intake. Not to the same extent as it did when you bought it but you'll waste neighter time nor money by taking it and you'll get more protein on board.

i got a few new bags recently to try the taste.

MyProtein impact whey White chocolate - This tastes good, like a milky bar kinda. If mix with 750ml it kinda gets diluted but with less than 500ml it tastes good.

Myprotein Chocolate Banana - I've been using this to mix with greek yoghurt, it's the best flavour I have every come across.

Protein Works Jaffa Cake - Disgusting, artificial and gives me a vomit like reaction when drinking it. Tried two scoops since I got it, it's horrific.

I just picked up the MyProtein salted caramel. It's lovely, but a bit light on flavour.. although that's not a bad thing as I mostly use it for making smoothies for breakfast etc.

Been thinking of trying that next. Currently have cookies and cream gold standard which is lovely, my favorite so far.

Elverys have a sale on protein at the moment. 10lb bag for €111 gold standard which is decent value.

I did like ON but at that price it still isn't decent value. MyProtein is still half that for 5kg (11 lbs)

Has anyone ever used PvL mutant whey?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 559 ✭✭✭Joe Doe

Have only discovered two brands so far, that are completely 100% natural.
i.e. No artificial sweeteners, enhancements or flavours. Essentially 100% natural whey. noting else 'synthetic' added.

1.Solgar & 2.PinkSun, available on-line, or in some specialist retailers only.

Was amazed when low on stock, that when looking in a well known high street branch of health shops,
they only stocked about 20 varieties all in shinny packaging, ALL with various sweeteners added.

When mixing with greek yoghurt can you just use a spoon to mix or does it get lumpy?
And does it taste better than with milk? I struggle to drink shakes at the best of times.

I've used a fork and a spoon and never had a problem. Plenty of mixing because it takes a bit to make sure all the powder is mixed in with the youghurt.

Haven't had Angel Delight in yeeeeeaaaaars but it tastes a bit like how I relember that tasted.
