Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    The majority of WC protesters were the ones who don't pay for anything. We were working in a lot of council estates at the time and they held vigils outside the estates to make sure nobody would enter the estate. Placards saying we won't pay for water as we've paid for it already through our taxes!!! Taxes my hole...majority of them never lifted a finger in their lives. Knew a lot of contractors doing the meters. They were happy out working away on most estates but the ones they got the most flack from were the ones where the rest of society work to allow the people stay at home and do nothing. One lad even let a shotgun blast over the crews head. Nice of you to tar your fellow farmers with the same brush.

    I was against the charges attended all the matches. Also I've been fully employed since I was 16 .


    I unfortunately don't have time during he day to stop you lot or express my displeasure.

    It's off topic here but water charges was a government fk up. It was badly managed. It was the wrong way around. Funding should have been given first to known leaks and also large projects both of which were fully known before metering started. Cart before the horse.

    So dont go blaming voters and certainly not the handy out of so called non workers because the reality was alot different.

    Water charges was aFG, Labour and Greens f@@kup. Yes FF handed them the victory because it did not want the shinners to blindside them. The Greens are to blame because they put the rightousness of green politics of wanting metering ahead the political reality that water charges would always be a hard sell. Labour bought into the whole green agenda and like FF with the shinners Labour did not want the Greens to blindside them. Phil Hogan did not want the unpopularity of it to follow him so he ducked it at cabinet level and FG bought into the metering fiasco.

    The house hold charge was bought in in 2011/12 I think. The Irish public would have bought into anything then. It was first bough in as a flat 100 euro charge because there was time needed to sort valuations. Flat rate water charges should have come in the same time but Ken Hogan with Labour backing ducked it. The longer the metering fiasco went on and Board Usice costs escalated the harder it was to sell water charges.

    This was not the only fiasco around that time Labour in it rush to protect what it taught was it electoral base refuse any cuts in mainline welfare. This was another fiasco instead of a 5-10 euro cut across the unemployed and old age pension there was targeted cut in area's like carers allowance.

    TBH for what were very seasoned experienced politicans Labour lost the plot. At the time it had huge support from workers. But it political decision during that period let to its demise. However the water debacle was a political failure across the whole political system.

    Fair play to ya. We have always had to pay for water out in the sticks. Tis fine when it doesn't effect inside the 50km zone, then it doesn't count!!!

    Village water main blew here in one of our fields a month back, asbestos piping is what’s carrying it, that and lead piping is what most of the general population is drinking water from not a second thought from the general public the health effects of it, I’d rather pay for water then use the above

    Did you get away any cattle in the last few days? Was talking to my agent Thursday night wouldn’t give me an answer when he could take them he said we will keep in touch even though his factory is back since Thursday night, I noticed the mart numbers are small enough are men that have stores to sell waiting for lads to offload some factory cattle before they start selling? I know the weather and plenty grass around is probably some of the reason too

    No if you kill the day of their 30 month birthday you are ok. Never an issue here anyway. Killed an odd one a day or two after and got them in as 30 months. Same with 36 months. Suppose it depends on factory.

    Was talking to a factory agent for dawn meats in Slane. They still aren't killing there. Workers arguing over terms and conditions.

    So have I been caught but I think if an animal is not fit then their not fit in that time frame. Much prefer to kill a beast at 31 months than kill it at 30 months fat score 2.

    Let's just clarify something , it might put your head in a spin.

    I was at all the matches because I think it's the government's job to provide basic water for sanitisation and obviously to drink. We need it or die within days.

    I lived in Dublin at the time.

    I now live in Wicklow, where I have my own well and own water system which I have to pay for parts and service and filters.

    I still think water charges are wrong and would march again.

    Now I know that might make your head go delirious but water should be provided for by our government it's a requirement of life. Write that on a bus there for yourself.


    Anyway it's off topic. But I wanted to correct your the narrative you are propagating on the water charges opposition.

    You seem to misunderstand the point I was making. I am/was in favour of water charges.


    Just making the point that the nature of the arguments against the water charges was the same as those in favour of the blockades.

    I couldn't give 2 fecks whether you marched or not. It was the comparison to the majority of hard working farming grafters to the spongers (not your good self) that were the majority protesting on the water charges which were mainly lefty liberal socialist sh1tes that would swallow a shovel before they'd use it.
