Since there are no aircraft up top, I'd guess that its ethier just being launched down a slipway, or is undergoing repairs as there are what look like JCB's etc. on deck and may be doing some extreme turns to test her sea worthiness?

    Class pic tho'.

    but i could be wrong.

Hi, the pics were taken in the Curragh, these things are just sitting there, opened, rusting away, I heard the name of the second tank but it's slipped my memory, however I dont think it was a Cromwell, I think its a Danish or Norweigian tank, or a similar country.

Based upon the angle of attack, and adjusting for ground effect, I would estimate his speed at something close to 300 knots. Any slower would require a much greater angle of attack and much faster would begin to form some type of condensation in the air around the plane.

Link incase the above pic doesn't show. Its about half way down.

Russian Air Force Su-30 597 was fly over within 1m on the runway of ZHANG JIA JIE airport on 19th Mar,2006

I think the pilot is a "Anatoliy Kvochur"

You might be right but look at the motion blur of the back ground in your images compared to the other one. The only one thats similar is the one where its sitting on the ground.

Sorry: forgot to put quote's around it. It was from a comment on the picture. And I agree. The lack of motion blur does make me think that its fake, but I'm unsure.

Could be a very fast shutter speed either. I have seen aircraft that low. Theres videos of them on YourTube and Google Video. That one just looks odd for some reason.

    That's the Curragh, and that's a Comet.

Judging by her wake looks like they were just putting the Nimitz through her paces. Absolutely cool pic though. Was aboard JFK when she came to Dublin a few years back and she's of a comparable size, so i can just imagine how it felt to be onboard during that turn.

Probably some 16yr old joyrider at the helm!!:)

That Pic back on page 1 of the Battlewagon firing a full broadside is the New Jersey. The USN used to like sending the Iowa's to mark significant events for other navies. Think that pic is to do with the anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy.

this is a very high shutter speed pic of a 16" shell leaving the barrel from one of the ships

Yeah, I think your right about the comet tank.
However I think it has since been restored and is now sitting on a plinth type thing outside the dining hall(i think) in the curragh

Thats odd - I can see them logged in or not. There are more Irish Rangers ones on page 2 of my gallery here :

    http://zwanzig.deviantart.com/gallery/

I also have some navy ones that I put together to mail to a navy person who was at the parade - is there any particular unit/part of the parade you are looking for ?

    Excellent pics mikeanywhere ;)

    Thanks guys,

I was pretty pleased with them. Cant wait for Farnborough Air Show to get some serious military machines to take pics of. Once I have them sorted I'll post away.

My favourite has to be the F-16's as the co-pilot in the lead craft is waving to the crowd. I only saw that after cropping the size.
