Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Inheritance vs invalidity pension

    I was just wondering if someone who’s on invalidity pension gets an inheritance of more than 50k, will they lose their pension or can they keep it? I know that with disability benefit/allowance you lose the benefit, just wondering what happens if someone is on invalidity pension.

    Invalidity Pension is not means-tested so your savings make no difference :)

    You are wrong also about disability benefit. The first €50,000 is not means tested for disability then it’s €1 per 1000 for the next 10,000, €2 per 1000 for the 10,000 after that and €4 per 1000 for the remainder.

    Invalidity pension is a non means tested payment. The same to be said about Illness Benefit.
    You don't have to report any changes in your income and you won't lose any of your payment.
    So you are safe- you will lose nothing.
