I have friends who live there. If you work in the city, the train is handy but if you want to socialise in town, it gets tricky. Fine if you are happy to take a Nitelink but a taxi is prohibitive (at least 60 euro - cheaper to book into a budget hotel in town). They say the new Millfield Shopping Centre has been a good retail addition to the town with a massive Tesco, Easons, Boots and other shops.

Swords is maybe better as you can get the express buses thru the tunnel into town (quicker to airport, M50 etc). I'm assuming that proximity to city is a factor but if not, either town is fine. I enjoy going out in Swords - a good few pubs and clubs to choose from. The Pavillions SC is good for shops. No train connections however.
