Everyone watch End of Watch. Best buddy film ever, possibly.

It's a pity I can never take Michael Pena seriously after his work in Eastbound and Down, along with Observe and Report.

ps. watch out children bad language and stuff whatever you do don't look!

One of the societies in Maynooth is showing this on Monday, definitely considering bunking into it. Used to love it!

Been watching a ****-ton of Horrors lately, watched all 7 Saw films as a marathon not too long ago (On a side note, Good Christ that 7th one was catastrophic waste of time)

On to "The Ring" tonight, have heard good things....and bad things... but hey I'll stay positive.

The IT Crowd is quality! It's amazing how brilliant Graham Linehan's creations are in fairness. :)

Drake and Josh is on Netflix? Might dip into that myself...

Saw Love/Hate for the first time last night.

Surprised how much I enjoyed it given that I had absolutely no idea what was going on. :pac:

Think I'll drop a few hints for the boxset for Christmas...

Also, Storage Wars would be a far better show if they forgot about the auction sections and just got on to showing what's in the lockers...

Just finished watching The Sopranos yesterday.

    1. The Sopranos
    2. The Wire
    3. Breaking Bad

Nothing else I've watched comes close to those three

Just watched 5 minutes of it.

If anything, it came across as a Batman wannabe.

Trapped on an island, came back, wants to clean up the city, becomes a superhero but can't tell anyone.

Looks crap, but then I've never been into comics.

EDIT: Or should that be Spiderman?

Get onto Deadwood and Boardwalk Empire next, they'll fill the next couple of slots.

Daphne: Oh... this is gruesome, a partially decomposed body has just been found in the harbour in <placename>.

    Martin: That's good news!

    Daphne: What?!

Martin: Well bodies don't come to the surface until the weather gets warmer. You get your first floater and you know Spring is around the corner.

    I f*cking love Frasier.

I forgot that show even existed. I think a Frasier marathon is in order.

    Finally saw Skyfall, so good!

And I don't usually go mad for the whole shipping thing, but Bond and Q are clearly meant for each other total OTP

I've heard good things about Deadwood, is it actually that good? As in The Wire And Breaking Bad standard?

I started watching 'Justified' recently and haven't been able to stop since..
It's seriously one on the most underrated shows I've ever seen, Tim Olyphant is ridiculously Badass in it..Give it a go and you shall not regret it!

It's very good. Fantastic writing, dialogue, humour, acting, and a brilliant ensemble of characters including possibly the best anti-hero in any television drama ever (Al Swearengen). It's about a burgeoning American town in the late 19th century which brings together gold diggers, political fixers, killers, lawmen, whores, aristocrats, business people, etc.; it excels in presenting how the actions of one can affect the community as a whole, for good or bad. It's not a particularly schmaltzy show, but despite all the vice (political manipulation, prostitution, murder, imaginatively vulgar swearing) you do feel a ridiculous amount of empathy and warmth for most of the characters.

And don't be expecting it to be traditional western stuff - it subverts all that. It's more like the film Unforgiven, showing the harsh ugly truth of the American west. So lots of violence, whores and corruption.

It's not as good as The Wire but not many shows are. It's paced in a similar fashion (like a good book that gradually gels) and shares the whole interrelationship theme to great effect. Breaking Bad is a different kettle of meth altogether; that show is fast-paced and frantic, only really focusing on four or five characters in detail, whereas Deadwood is slower and develops enough characters to field a GAA side. On the ranking scale, I'd give The Wire a ten, Breaking Bad a 9, and Deadwood an 8.5.

It's unlucky not to get a nine: Its one failing is the abrupt ending - HBO cancelled it right before the third season aired (it was costing them a bomb to make) meaning it never got the fourth season or proper conclusion it deserved. There were plans to make two films to wrap things up but considering it's been four or five years since the show ended I don't think that's likely now. The cancellation doesn't completely tarnish the show - it's not a show with massive cliff hangers - but yeah it's annoying and you will be left feeling a bit disgruntled.

The quality and consistency of the three seasons should make it worth your while though. Also, you mentioned liking Timothy Olyphant in Justified (a show I haven't seen yet), you'll be pleased to know he plays a major character! A hot-headed sheriff.

This became a very long post, I apologise. It became a favourite show of mine though and I haven't had a chance to gush enthusiasm for it until now. A more succinct response to your question may have been yes it's worth watching and no it's not as good as those two shows but it's ruddy good in its own distinctive way.

Don't apologize, the fact you can write all that info means the show clearly had a great effect on you!

I'll definitely be giving this a go, thanks very much man!

    About to watch Skyfall..

I'm not really a James Bond kind of guy tbh so I'm getting my hopes too high...I loved Casino Royale, but hated Quantum of Solace, those are the only Bonds I've seen I'm ashamed to say.

RTE2 are showing Peep Show tonight, the very first episode. One of the strongest opening episodes of any comedy ever.
    [While boarding the bus]
Mark: (Yes! "I am the lord of the bus!" said he.)
Mark: (Yeah that's the way, Sophie is the one. Toni is Russia: Vast, mysterious, unconquerable. Sophie is Poland: Manageable... won't put up too much of a fight.)

When Mark gets his hand stuck under her arse on the Bus and convinces himself its a good idea to wait for a bump in the road to slip it out haha

Peep Show is one of the funniest shows around, pity about the latest season
