Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Does anyone have a breif idea about this topic,
    and to make matters worse the effects it had on Russian Cinema at the time.

    Any knowledge or advice would be appreceiated

    Well, from the book I am reading at the moment, "Communism: A brief History" by Richard Pipes, Stalin had a liking for comedy films.

    On a more serious note, I've seen good book reviews about Russian Culture "Natasha's Dance" by Figes(?). You could try this as an intro to its historical context.

    Have a look at Ivan the terrible Parts I & II to see how much political commentry could be made at the time.

    Part III wasn't made 'cos Stalin recognised who Ivan was...
