This looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Carey Mulligan, Alison Brie, Adam Brody & Connie Britton star.
Everyone said Cassie (Carey Mulligan) was a promising young woman... until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be: she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story.

I remember that song from the start. It was in the episode of Handmaids Tale where it showed the husbands story!

It will be at the Dublin Film Fest on March 8th.

I presume the title is a nod and a wink to the Brock Turner case?

Seeing it on Sunday in the IFI but at first glance it looks like shallow victimhood metoo porn.

Saw the trailer last night and to be honest it screams trashy exploitation #metoo flick to me.

Talking about the film specifically and not the concept in general. It's been done numerous times, but this one seems to be bandwagoning big time.

Just finished watching this....it is really excellent.
So well directed, extremely stylish intense and thought provoking.
the montage to the Paris Hilton song is a bit bizarre though...that ending will definitely divide people but I loved it
Great cast, even in the smaller roles, Carey Mulligan is brilliant in it, really great to see her in something totally different.

This looks really good, what platform is it available to stream on in Ireland though? Can’t find it anywhere!

Saw it a few weeks back.. it really is excellent. Mulligan is superb.

Good to see Bo Burnham back in front of camera.

Already made a comment in the "what have you watched recently thread" but thought that it was good - an original slant on the revenge flick.

didn't overly bang of #metoo or rampant feminism at all really either I thought; the idea execution of putting in a couple of female antagonists was well done in this regard.

    original to the end.

    worth a watch

only jarring aspect was that Mulligan looked twice the age of the guy that she was supposed to be in college with.

    He plays
the "love" interest for want of a better word...well for some of it
he has probably the 2nd biggest part.

Loved it. Excellent performance from Carey Mulligan. Also didn't expect A Good Education reunion with Alfred Molina there. There was a lot of me *leo dicaprio pointing at tv* meme at all the actors she interacted, famously well loved too, which adds to the whole 'good guy' angle of the whole thing.

I'd expect some people might have qualms about the third act or ending but for me, personally, it was a gutpunch that took a while to "accept" but when the dust settled, I actually can't think of a better ending, so...

The reimagined 'Toxic' in the background with her walking in was also *chef's kiss*

Well that was dark and disturbing but excellent at the same time.

Loved this film but as I mentioned in the recently watched thread, and others noting here, the ending will be divisive.
I was shocked as it unfolded and thought somehow she was about to fight back successfully. It was a shock for sure to see it unfold. A real gut punch. I'm glad they didn't go with the director's original ending where they cut to black after her body is burned.
I wasn't sure how I felt about it all and whether it was the right ending.
However I did remember the bit where she threw away her license plate into the bush, which I thought odd at the time, but now goes to show that in advance we were subtly shown that she knew going in that she may not get out.

Well my initial impressions based on the trailer were completely wrong, this is an astounding film - edge of seat stuff that crosses so many genres and excels at them all, the balance struck is just perfect.

It's dark, bleak, sentimental, funny, depressing and uplifting all at once, culminating in an ending I thought wrapped it all up in a perfect, bittersweet bow.

I've actually seen an excellent trio of drama films in recent weeks centred on strong female leads - I'm your Woman, Blood on her Name, and Promising Young Woman. This is the best of them, but I'd recommend the other two as well.

Thought this was an excellent film, really enjoyed it. There was a lot of woman = good , man = bad , but I expected that, never the less I'd definitely recommend it

Just Watch is a good source of where you can stream things. It does not appear to be on any of the legal streaming sites yet

I enjoyed this one - thought it was going to be a bit like Alice Kills but had more depth to it.

    Great soundtrack
    Great casting
    Great film
    10\10
Best film I've seen in a !omg time.
had the advantage of catching me by surprise as I knew nothing about it before watching.
Now currently recommending it to everyone

Watched this last night. Very enjoyable. Don't know why, but I was getting a Cruel Intentions vibe to it afterwards. Maybe it was the "getting taught a lesson" after somebody had died.

Anyway, good film. Carey Mulligan did well.

I was very meh on this. A lot of potential in the premise which the execution and writing are unable to fulfil. I think it would have worked better as an American Psycho esque satire or a black comedy.

I was REALLY enjoying this film, excellently directed, great soundtrack and a dark atmosphere throughout, however the ludicrous ending ruined the entire film for me.
The scheduled texts complete with the three dots as they 'were being written' was beyond silly. I get that they were trying to show that Cassie knew she wouldn't get out of the party alive but it really didn't work. The directors original ending of the film ending with her body being burned would have been a much more powerful ending.

An excellent film ruined by the ending.

While I won't disagree with your thoughts on the ending, as it is a marmite one,
I realised that they signposted her knowing it may not end well for her when she takes off the car's license plate and throws it away. The texts weren't scheduled. The lawyer had the phone and was told what to do, what to say and when to respond so she got her revenge how she wanted.

I don't think the film ending with her body being burned would have been any better. It would have kept the shock value more so than the subsequent addition to the script, but I don't think it would have been the best place for it to have finished on.

The texts had "scheduled" written on them.
On reflection, I thought the whole idea is daft.
Why not do the straightforward thing - go to the police with the video of the rape. Instead, she decides that; no,a better idea would be to go to a cabin full of fellows, and shure if I die,I die. so be it.
