    A scientist and an engineer were out for dinner and the scientist started moaning about the public's lack of understanding of science and technology. The engineer had a more optimistic outlook but the scientist was having none of it.

    The scientist said "I'll tell you what, I'm going to the bathroom but when I come back I'll ask the first person I see the easiest integration question I can think of. I bet they won't get it."

    When she left, the engineer called a waiter over and said "Here's 20 quid, can you walk by our table as soon as my friend comes back? She'll ask you a question and just reply with x squared over 2. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it, just say x squared over 2."

    The waiter obliged and upon walking by their table, the scientist asked "what is the integral of x?" He replied with "x squared over 2."

    The scientist was shocked and the engineer was chuffed, but then the waiter looked at them both in disgust and said "plus a constant!"
