It all feeds into the sensationalist crap around the storm warnings and general public's lack of knowledge on what is actually forecast.

I'm not even going to check if they are referring to "feels like" daytime or night time temps.

DailyMail - A new Beast from the East could be on the way: Met Office warns of snow and an icy blast in January thanks to a 'Sudden Stratospheric Warming'
'At the moment there is a Sudden Stratospheric Warming taking place. The effects of that are felt some time after because it's happening high in the atmosphere. So it takes at least two weeks for that to be felt at ground level, but at the moment it's far too early to say what the effects might be.
In the past they have been responsible for the Beast from the East and the cold and the snow.'

Bitterly cold January ahead, Met Éireann say

29/12/2018 - 08:29:00

Ireland could be in for another bitterly cold and wintry January with the possible return of the same weather system that caused the Beast from the East this year.
The British Met Office says the UK is currently in the middle of what's called a "sudden stratospheric warning".
Met Eireann's Liz Walsh says it's too early to say if we'll get more extreme weather:
"Around the atmosphere, you can get deep differences in temperature between cold air coming down from the north and then warm air rising from the south," she said.
"You could have very cold air over the US, but warmer air over the Atlantic and then colder air again over Europe or possibly, over Asia."

Now where the hell is the evidence that Met Éireann said "Bitterly cold January ahead"? That's criminal "journalism".

It's criminal..
No full stop at the end of "Met Eireann say" in the headline suggesting it's part of a continued sentence in the rest of the story. It's how they get away with it.

I heard that on the radio news and thought what the holy feck was that? In the space of two sentences the Beast from the East was raised and basically killed.

This meanwhile seems to add nothing but uncertainty for the average joe half listening.

And they wonder why people have a go at the presentation of forthcoming weather.

Edit - just to put this in context when this slack quiet spell ends the Atlantic will be back in charge so it'll be three weeks before anything happens at a minimum.
