There seems to be very few midges around at the moment. Is it tool cool or just too early in the year?
Do they hatch at various times over the summer?

    Edit:
I found an answer to my own question thanks to google.

The french model is showing the highest , ECM can underplay it a bit with local temperatures. Looks around 20C possibly a bit higher to 22C or so.

    Tomorrow according to Met Eireann

“Temperatures will be 25 degrees in the afternoon widely across the country, typically reaching 20 degrees at the coasts and as high as 29 degrees is possible in the west.”

What’s our May Record High again?

It will be really interesting to watch that. Latest Gfs has high pressure over or near Ireland all the way through to early June. No sign of the Atlantic influence at all. This has been remarkable spell of weather since mid March. Only a couple of minor interruptions really and very little rain. Let's see what Ecm says, latest run starting now.

Imagine it hit 30 in May. West of Ireland will be hotter than the UK

Ha ha Ecm has big blue low pressure over us by day 9/10. Far away to be reliable thankfully but we shall see.

Temps look good tomorrow, but lots of cloud around unfortunately. Hopefully we get some good breaks.
Beautiful morning today, but cloud cover should be here by midday. F*ck off clouds!

No mention of 29 degrees tomorrow, according to their 09:35 update on their site. I think 29 is stretching it but 27 is possible.
    TOMORROW - Thursday 28th May
Tomorrow, Thursday will be dry and very warm in many areas with good sunshine and afternoon highs of 22 to 26 degrees, higher in parts of the west and southwest, cooler on eastern and southern coasts with onshore breezes. Winds will be light to moderate from a southeast direction, locally fresh.

lovely warm and sunny morning here in Meath, currently 18C, today is the start of the warmth building. Should get to 21 or 22 in many places today with 23 and 24C in some southern areas.

21.6°c already in west Clare, completely calm and incredibly warm.

I went for a stroll in shorts and a t-shirt and still came back sweating!

Was a foggy early morning in cork city however it cleared around 10ish and is blue skies now. It’s about 18 degrees at the moments and loving it!

18 degrees in D9. The E breeze is gentle mostly but you can feel that it is not yet a warm one so as long as it persists this week my area will struggle to breach 20-22 degrees. It's effects aren't too penetrating though as much of inland East/SE are doing well on the wow stations.

Oak park warmest so far at 21 degrees. Parts of Dublin, galway, mayo, meath and clare also reporting 20 degrees at 1pm

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,097 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Kerry airport 22°c and Shannon 21°c at 1:30pm

Nudging 21C in Castlebar currently, a lovely bright day with barely a puff of breeze.

20C here in Meath, currently Oak Park and Moore Park leading the way with 21C, most of the country now in the 19 to 21C range, could get to 23C maybe 24C in a few places later.

sea breezes look like shaving off a few degrees, particularly the southern coasts, Met Eireann have the Cork coastal region only 15C tomorrow because of the breeze, east coast will be around 18C tomorrow but once you go a few km inland the temperatures should rise fast.

22C now at Dunsany! warmest day of the year so far!

Newport has reached 23C, I'm beginning to think somewhere could reach 25C today.
