So i got Origin access for €15 or so to give this a whirl the other day and finished it tonight, i actually liked it a lot more than i thought i would, so hats off to EA for that..

BUT... It definitely felt like the game was progressively made to be cut short and finished at any moment with the way they handled the planets, especially the way that they basically made you back track between planets in an effort to extend the game time.

What really confirmed it for me though was the inclusion of the
    night sister into your crew
, she is literally part of the crew for one more level, and she doesnt even come with you, she just stays on the ship :(

Now you could argue that its part of the set up for the inevitable sequel, but they could have just as easily left her joining until the sequel, it just really felt there should have been another planet or two at least left in the game, to give her purpose for joining.

Apart from that, the game play was fun, i liked the way they done the skill tree, didnt overflow it with imba skills to make the game faceroll. But the combat itself was far from perfect, which is another reason i felt the game was rushed to the finish line prematurely, it was far from polished and was littered with annoying bugs and glitches that ruined plenty of fun engaging fights.

Its always my gripe with EA games, most AAA game companies really, i guess i should be glad its a lot less than usual.

Now to make the most out of my origin access and maybe dive into the Knights of the old republic games as i never got to play them, are they still good/fun to play? or too dated?

There is also the force unleashed games, are they worth it? would they still hold up also?

KOTOR 1 is brilliant, i have heard for KOTOR 2 it is best to get the fan made restoration mod as it restores everything that was cut.

    Never played the force unleashed.

They actually finished that! I was following that for years and it seemed it would never end.

KOTOR 1 and 2 are two of the best Star Wars games ever made what I wouldn't do for a remake of them even just the 1st one or a 3rd one

    3rd one
The third one was rumoured to have been about Revan fighting the Yuuzhan Vong, extra galactic Force blanks.

Third one is kinda SWTOR the Jedi Knight story, there is even a Revan patch.

Finished this last night. Really good game, very enjoyable. Feels great to be a Jedi: using the force and swinging a lightsaber.

This is what I always want from the films - focus on the Jedi, the force and lightsaber battles. Story was reasonably compelling and the characters were pretty decent and well rounded. The levels/ planets were cleverly designed and fun to navigate. The designers were clearly heavily influenced by Dark Souls, but mostly took all the positives.

The skill system was well done - great feeling of becoming increasingly powerful to the point where you are trashing groups of enemies in novel ways, where you may have just struggled before. It got to the point where I should have probably have been moving to the dark side as I toyed with stormtroopers w/ Force pull and push etc. :D

I did still struggle in boss fights though, which were possibly a little too difficult at times.

Enjoyed the customisation a lot, something which made the game more involving. Would be amazing to have a game like this but with full and detailed character customisation.

Was not expecting 'that' cameo at the end, was pretty sweet. Someone desribed the final planet as like Star Wars porn, which is pretty accurate. Great fun and look forward to a sequel/ follow up.

Started this today, it's more difficult than I was expecting. Finding it tough to deal with melee enemies whilst being harassed by stormtroopers from range, not to mention ones with rocket launchers.

Rockets can work to your advantage :)

Played a nice bit more yesterday, getting to grips with it a bit more now, Its in an unusual middle ground control wise, its not as nuanced as dark souls, nor as freeform (mashing friendly) as something like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta, and sometimes it seems hard to get Cal to do exactly what you want him to do.
I'm very impressed with the overall atmosphere though, they really have nailed the star wars vibe to a tee. love the the little touches like
when you defeat the AT-ST, and the pilot hops out to try and have a go with his blaster,
and it was also cool to see Saw Gerrera on Kashykk!

can i just ask is it just me or does this game have the worst rope controls in comparison to any game of this generation.

i cant be the only one constantly falling to a pointless death.

not the greatest but i didnt fall to my death much from them, if i did it was usually because i was being hastey.. I had more issues with running/ and jumping a far distance due to the run mechanic resetting to walk anytime you want off a step.

There was a jump on dathomir at the start of the zone i kept messing up and getting mad as you had to run and jump, but just before the end of the ledge there was a step down, and it always changed my run to a walk and id feck up the jump because of it..

I regretted not changing the buttons around at the start of the game so run wasnt the left analogue button :(

Oh wow, I wouldn't be a huge Star Wars fan but this was got for me for Christmas and I'm pleasantly surprised by it. Atmosphere is great and the combat seems decent. Timing seems generous for parrying and feels great when you do one for reflect blasters back.

Only did the opening part with the train as it's still installing.

Was playing it today as well, only issue I have so far is when you finish a planet you have to trek all the way back to the ship and its a slog!

Yeah and I'm not mad about the map but early days yet.

So, I was over halfway through the game when I found out there's a 'prioritise framerate' setting in the graphics settings on Xbox one X. Transforms the game.

Had beer coming out my nose laughing so hard at my partner playing this last night. We were on the wookie planet and she gets to the bit were you help the
bird and it flies you on it's back up the tree
and she's busy singing never ending story :D

Got this for xmas so threw a few hours into it the last few days. Really enjoying it for the most part. A lot of it can be very tough, but when it flows it's great. Fighting two reasonably tough enemies at a time is a pain in the jacksy though as the window for countering and parrying is tight enough on Jedi Master that you can't get a proper rhythm going.

My biggest issue though is that Force powers are a bit... meh.

I've most unlocked now and I concur with 'meh' though force pushing someone off a ledge never gets old.

No fast travel back to the ship or between meditation points is now really annoying especially when looking for collectables etc.

Overall I'm enjoying it even if it does feel a little familiar in that I've played many games similar to it over the years, it does what it does well.

Finished it there today after a serious runthrough during the Christmas break. Pretty fun and nice to see them setting up for sequels.

Some of the on-rails sliding-jumping sections could be a bit janky, like on the Wookie planet when you go bouncing off the green yokes I probably had to go through the section ten times to get just the right timing. There were a few bits like that where the level design might have been just a little bit off.

Otherwise, a warp feature back to your ship after beating levels would be most welcome. I got lost and found a load of sidebar loot but if you're not a completionist it's more annoying than fun.

All in all a very solid game. Not sure I'd replay it, but well worth a buy on sale and probably the best Star Wars jedi adventure/lightsaber game I've played since Jedi Knight all those years ago. (Different genre, but can someone please make another KOTOR, tks.)

, yeah sliding sections should not have been failable, annoying to have to do those multiple times due to the game vs skill.

Game definitely need a fast travel option .

Ah but then the game would be 50% shorter and people would flip their lid :pac:

Finished it tonight as well, outside of the sliding, the combat is the weakest part of it. 2 stormtroopers at a time and you're just mashing to get trough them. Parrying is too inconsistent to feel like a fluid choice, and the blaster enemies are an annoyance getting in the way of melee combat. Story was pretty cool overall though.

There was one waves section near the end that was pretty rad, lots of each type of enemy to deal with at once when you had all your powers to hand. I reckon more of that in more varied sections would be fun.

Finished it tonight myself. Wouldn't be a Star Wars nut but that was better in terms of story than most of the films imo. Great charters and a great cast. Pity Merrin was so late to the party. I really liked her.

EDIT: I had the difficulty down to story by the end as I was tired of getting ganked.

Feel like dropping down a difficulty level too at this point. Playing Jedi Master but when the combat system is so centred around parrying, any more than two enemies in an area (and particularly where theres troopers or archers firing at you from a distance) make it far too difficult to get timing right with any consistency. Not to mention you hit a parry right and then someone else rushes in from off-screen and slams you. The only times I've done reasonably well with parrying has been against bosses one on one.

Yeah thats why I dropped it down. Getting shot off screen and an enemy you meet in groups late game who I was dodging but in a group if you get caught in a corner or against a wall it's game over with them as they interrupt the block animation / force push as they hit you.
