i was wondering is it possible to have a webcam as your desktop background in xp?
i no about active desktop but all it does is make a web page available off line which is no good when i want to have a live webcam there..
    http://www.dlharbour.ie/webcam/dlh1.php
thats the link, if you view it during daylight hours (gmt) there will be 3 buttons below it and the right hand one makes if full screen but these wont be there by night for some odd reason..
any who im looking to get this cam as my background (preferably full screen so i dont have the annoying website as well)
maybe there's a way of making it full screen without the button? (the full screen version seems to just resize the webcam, so if you were to point the computer at the url it would still take the whole webpage, making the full screen button pintless in this case..)
but maybe one of you geniuses out there knows a way of making it full screen without the button... that's if its possible to make it work in the first place.

    cheers
    Alex

    Hey there,

I had a program before that would never let me maximize it to full screen and then a friend told me that if i pressed alt and the return key at the same time it would maximize it to full screen which to be fair it did. Try that it worked for me anyway. :)good ,luck with it.

hey, just came up with a cool solution!

If you get VLC media player, go to the webpage you linked to and copy the address of the video feed

    http://dlh1.axiscam.net/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&dummy=1196890801078

Then open VLC, go to file --> Open Network Stream --> choose http and paste the link, then click ok

It will take a few seconds for the video to load, now rightclick, and choose Wallpaper..

The video feed is now your background :)

Webcam footage is very poor and doesnt look good as a background though :(

Im just on a school pc now so i cant check it out for you...

But if you open vlc, make a playlist with the lion king set to repeat, then save the playlist, and put it in the startup folder i think it will open when you launch windows...

If not sure about how to make it default to being a wallpaper though... Have a poke around in the settings /preferences
