Cool and windy in Letterkenny with plenty of heavy drizzle showers. An improvement on the past few weeks in that there's the odd patch of blue sky but feeling very autumnal

Dry and sunny since the rain cleared early this morning, was very breezy earlier, not so much now, Meath

    Forecast

Apart from isolated light showers it will be dry today. There will be a good deal of cloud, but some sunny spells also. Highest temperatures will range from 14 to 18 or possibly 19 degrees Celsius, highest in southern areas.

    Actual weather in Sligo

Mist and drizzle all night and morning until now. Partial clearing now. Ground soaked though so no painting or mowing lawn as I was lead to believe by forecast all weej id be able to do

Cool and very cloudy can feel drips of rain. Had nice sunshine yesterday evening but a stiff wind making it feel very chilly.

The forecast for our area is driving me nuts all summer. Even the morning of they aren't getting it right.

Quick chart (whatever a 'quick chart' might be..) that shows the 7 day running rainfall trend, or a 'singularity' for Autumn in Ireland for the relatively small 2011 to 2018 base period. I used this small base period as it is what most of on here would be familiar with by experience. Data is C/O Met Eireann.

    STwhihx.png

A gradual, if non linear rise upwards is apparent as we go further into the season with the wettest period of all tending to be the early to mid-November period.

8 year trend for the season:

September - fairly even distribution throughout the month but still with isolated very wet days.

October: Tends to start off with a wet period but followed by a drier period towards mid-month, but tending wetter again during 2nd half.

November: First and last weeks tend to be drier than mid month period.

I wonder will rainfall in Autumn 2019 comply with this recent pattern?

Indoors all day and NOT The weather.. well it is! Went out in the burgeoning sun to do some gardening to feel my face stinging.. badly... dratted midges been breeding all the bad weather... clouds of them all starving for fresh blood and not a breath of wind... Bright out there now but no chance... Bring back the wind, please!

Classic Irish September day today. Went to the Ireland match with the kids and spent the afternoon taking our sunglasses on and off, taking my coat on and off, worrying if the kids would get sunburnt one minute and then wrapping them up warm the next! :D

Was chilly enough in cork city today, bit of a cold breeze. First night in a while that there is a chill in the house also! Winter is coming :) Would have been a warmer day had the sun appeared but alas it was cloudy

    Stunning day in Dingle today.

Back to wild, wet, windy out here. ah well! Yesterday was a break! West mayo offshore

Nevertheless, went berrypicking in the wild wind and mist and very invigorating! Seeing it sweeping in over the low tide sands.. weather out here is constant and unavoidable! Part of life in a rather lovely way.

Awful day in Donegal with heavy misty drizzle and low visibility

Lucky enough to get a good walk in before the mist and drizzle came down proper here in Kerry. Waves of low cloud and drizzle coming in off the sea from a dissipating warm front. Autumnal.

    Mild enough at 16.8C

RTE issued a code red weather for tomorrow as they try and fix the sound on the HD channel on Sky.
Obviously no code red tomorrow, apart for their sound on the RTE's HD channels on Sky.

They had it written during the snow in 2018 and hadn't used it since

Just started drizzling in cork city around 10 minutes ago. Only about 11 or 12 degrees here too at the moment, feels very different then a few weeks ago.

lovely September Sunday here in Meath, was warm earlier and good sunny spells. Ground is starting to get fairly dry here now with not much heavy rain since mid August.

Cleared up for a while in late afternoon here so managed to get a quick walk in, heavy rain again now though. Evenings are really closing in now as well, summer feels a distant memory already

As for thunder, the radar does have a bit of a convective look to it so wouldn't be surprised if some see a flash or two

Wild, wet, windy out here and decidedly chilly. And still the equinoctial gale season to anticipate... grateful thoughts of the stack of turf outside..

The weekend. especially Saturday, saw a real flurry of activity when the gales subsided a while. It became quite busy; well for the island!

It is the light early mornings I miss far more than the evenings as these were my walking hours.

    west mayo offshore

Windy but suns came out just now in Arklow
Only 1.4mm rain last night here
Was interesting to see how wet the streets of Dublin were on sky news earlier
The ground is bone dry here

Got soaked getting from home to work this morning..... Drogheda to Dublin. Parking car, running 10 mins in rain to train station, horizontal rain blowing into platform at station , no proper shelter for the amount of commuters at that station, got soaked, drizzle when I got off train in Dublin. Yuk!

    Good weather from next Friday

Probably only very light drizzle in West instead of constant rain
